Icesave compensation payouts... how to keep the pressure up

No disrespect but that sounds a little superior to me, do we all have to bow to the superior knowledge of those that have high post counts and have been here the longest?
IMHO just because someone joined recently and has not posted many messages does not make their comments invalid or uninteresting, we all have to start somewhere, even you were a 'newbie' once I imagine?
No, I don't have superior knowledge to anyone.
I just take exception to some newbie putting me into a "category", when they're clearly utterly clueless about me.
I hope this Scooby character is proven correct, i really do.
But to claim to be offering advice, when the only source of advice is one weekly posting from the FSCS is rather misleading.
We're all in the dark right now. Of course we are. This event is unprecedented.0 -
In terms of GDP per capita, Iceland was very rich indeed.
I think the Falklands is quite high now there's only a few farmers left!
Sereously though I completely agree about the passport scheme, it goes to show the guarantee is less important than the person/government making it0 -

When your train breaks down, would you rather ask the chairman of Railtrack or the grease monkey holding the spanner what time you'll arrive????......0 -

Are you now claiming to be an employee at the FSCS? If so, I'll happily take your advice.
What is your position (without blowing your cover, naturally)?0 -

I agree that the event is unprecedented but I don't agree that we are in the dark, we were given a statement yesterday to the effect that we shall all be getting our money back in the coming weeks, I believe that TBH, sometimes you have to trust that when people say something they are honest and mean what they say.
I too have a huge amount saved with Icesave but I am now a lot more confident of getting it back quickly than I was 2 days ago.0 -
I am glad to read on the FSCS site that payments will start coming through in the 2nd week of November. Electronic payments back to our linked accounts makes so much more sense and I am sure they will inform us of the ISA process in due course. Just need to decide where I will have my ISA at that point.MFW #185

Not the FSCS, but they aren't the ones actually making this happen.
Nor am I offering advice - I'm offering reassurance based on the best knowledge available to me. If I'm not reasonably sure of something, you'll see I always qualify it.
I posted previously that one possibility was that funds would be transferred to Northern Rock - that was discounted, but the new proposal for NBS to transfer funds back to the linked accounts is technically very easy (just some issues for a small number of people who might have closed their accounts & not updated the Icesave record)
Some people here seem to think there is a conspiracy to keep them from their funds (actually I don't think they believe that, they just like to scare others with it) in reality there is a team of people working like crazy to achieve something which has never been done before on a scale that is mind boggling.0 -

I have to say that I would trust neither. I just wonder if the FSCS have left themselves wriggle room and can say that negotiations with the Icelandic Authorities have not progressed as quickly as they counted on. The reaction here of course would 'out' a few more people in need of anger management classes.0 -

Lol TBH I would rather trust the person holding the spanner but I think you are a bit naughty calling him a 'grease monkey', many of the people doing the actual work have a better understanding of things than the 'bods' at the top!
Lol I think I have got that right but I am now confused myself! Lol.0 -

The "grease monkey" holding the spanner - he would have a much better idea of how long the break down would take to fix, and therefore be in a better position to estimate the time of arrival. The chairman of Railtrack would know next to nothing, but would try to reassure you with hollow words and worthless cliches, until he eventually had feedback from said "grease monkey" (albeit via a chain of managers).0
