So what is the relevance/connection/context? I mean the reference to Alan/Plate/Drawer.0 -
I would consider living in a hotel for some time (e.g. first couple of months in new area) if I knew how to sort out issues with RoyalMail, banks etc. .. if someone does not have a permanent address he does not exist !All my life my mother told me the storm was coming (c) Terminator 30

The idea of living in a hotel is not new. Even in the 60's and 70's there were 'permanent residents'. Usually elderly ladies, but sometimes couples and elderley gents.0

I suppose the key thing is to negotiate a long lease at fixed rates.
And to include a veto on a "Fawlty" manager in the small print
.
