Enable ~
TEATIMER (i know its disabled in the program itself, but at least this will allow it when the program does)
ISUSPM
MCAGENT (Thats your anti virus program!)
SYNTPENH (Touchpad on laptop in case mouse goes dead)
Dumb question - but she uses her touchpad and it works fine and her mcafee is running....why do these need to be enabled at startup?Per Ardua Ad Astra0 -
fair enough
Leave the touchpad (I assumed she was using a USB mouse)
Id run the mcafee one just in case its stopping it from running correctly:idea:0 -
I notice LIMEWIRE in the program list
Thats notorious for letting viruses through! Id HIGHLY recommend uninstalling it
I also notice you have 2 SPYBOTS installed. Id recommend uninstalling BOTH of them, reinstalling the latest SPYBOT, update, immunise and scan again
Just so we're clear too. I really believe Mcafee is absolute junk. I would advice using a free firewall and free anti virus in place of it
(Comodo, Zonealarm and Sunbelt are the big 3 firewalls)
(Avast or Avira for anti virus (AVG has gone downhill lately)):idea:0 -
Is your friend still using Limewire?
Also Java is out of date
Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to exploit and infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:- Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version6 and save it to your desktop.
- Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE)6 Update 10...allows end-users to run Java applications".
- Click the "Download" button to the right.
- Select your Platform: "Windows".
- Select your Language: "Multi-Language".
- Read the License Agreement, and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
- Click Continue and the page will refresh.
- Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
- Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
- Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
- Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
- Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
- Follow the onscreen instructions for the Java uninstaller.
- Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version.
- Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
- Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u10-windows-i586-p.exe
- Follow the on screen instructions to install the latest Java version.

With all these changes and programmes that are being run - has the system been rebooted.
If not do that prior to scanning.0 -
Thanks both of you. Ive warned her about Limewire before. As for her Mcafee, well, I use Kapersky cos I get it free, but, used to use Avira...you know what people are like when theyve had an antivirus forever, they dont like change. Im working on her though!!Per Ardua Ad Astra0

WIll not let her remove the spybot 1.4 version.
1.4 version, it says "File "C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\unins000.dat" does not exist. Cannot uninstall"Per Ardua Ad Astra0 -
Try reinstalling it and then uninstall them both.
Strange I know, but as the uninstaller has been knocked out it has to be replaced0 -
Ok, done all of the above - spybot is still picking up Zango, and, like I said, HIJACK THIS will not remove the mentioned entries...is this becoming a lost cause?:(Per Ardua Ad Astra0
