About average for us - six in a three bed house but with gas CH/hot water.

Is it all electric? Any heating? Immersion heater?

I would agree. It's average usage, but for a family not an individual.

But if everything is electric, it's not so bad.

Is's gas central heating with a combi boiler and to my mind i've been rather careful not to be wasteful plus i"m really only in during the evening

In that case, if there are several of you in the house, fine. If it's just you and one or two others, seems high if you're being careful.

Or do you mean there's only you and you're out most days?

High then - any idea why?

Electric oven used a lot, lot of light fittings with many bulbs? Plasma TV? Big old fridge and freezer?

It's not super-high so sounds more like a lot of little things all adding up to a fair number of units.

I live alone in a 2 bed bungalow, with gas c/h and hot water. I also work and from 16/9-19/10, I have used 113kwh.

My last electric bill was 364 units that was from 22 May-21Aug this year. That is for two adults one home virtually all week me home 4 days a week in a 3 bedroom house.

Gas for CH, Water and cooking.

We don't have a tv, I have a tumble drier but rarely use it. A rated fridge/freezer and A rated chest freezer. It is about 171 litres and a year old A rated washing machine.

There has to be something that is running all the time. I would switch everything off apart from combi boiler and see if the meter is still running around. If not then start to turn everything back on one at a time to see if there is a big jump.

If you can't find it what way. Take daily readings and see what happens.

    Yours

Are you basing your consumption on reading your own meter at start and finish? If so, the usage is far too high.

I don't believe that "big fridge and freezer" will use anything like that much. I would suggest immersion heater left on - but you say you have a combi boiler, so it can't be that.

Washing machine? Tumble drying everything? Non-low energy light bulbs everywhere? Um ...

The only things normally left on would be an alarm clock, fridge, freezer and phone eveything else is switched off at the mains unless in use. Normally at night all i have on is my tv a table lamp and dvd player.
