  • discodaddy, my mistake, should have read .........>>>>....Amp (not TV)
Don't know if your amp is anything like mine, but I have inputs for just about everything on the back of my amp, just having a quick look, 4 composite video, 2 s-video, 8 analogue, 2 optical and 2 coaxal. More than enough to run your devices (and your neighbours)
Are you sure you have an real AV amp, not just a toy from argos?
    ;)

Im not even sure what you mean by that!

There must be an amp in there somewhere to drive the speakers. Whos the manufacturer of said unit?

It ONLY has the ONE input?? Ive honestly NEVER heard of that before!
Surely if it has 5 speakers then it must have surround sound of some description? One anologue phono means its MONO.
Unless its ONE DIGITAL phono (digital co axial) then it can be 5.1 surround
But then ive never heard of a unit with jkust a single co ax and nothing else either

    Im baffled!

Can you post a pic somewhere for us to see it? (Front and back)

Some of these cheap units has the amp built into a subwoofer with a single audio input and connectors for the other speakers.

One option might be a cheap line mixer if you can find something with enough stereo inputs. This would be the type of thing but this one only seems to have mic inputs.

I've seen line mixers with 4 mono/2 stereo inputs but you need one with 4 stereo inputs.

This one has 4 mono inputs which could be used as two pairs for stereo:

Some of these take a stereo source and "create" a 5.1 output. I assume they must have a proper digital connection as well but I can imagine that some cheap units are essentially just faking it.

I guess for proper 5.1 surround sound my line mixer suggestion isn't going to work.

as above thats what i got....:o

so is there a cheap connector that i can buy??
  • 2nd hand AV amps available on ebay for as little as £20-£30, I think it may be worth the minimal investment just to get something that's up to the job required. The one I have, and linked to, goes for around £40-£50, which is much less than I happily paid for mine new.
