I'm considering calling it a day. Nobody wants a party and nobody wants to come to my party. I have invited loads and loads of people and only got 2 yeses. I have one "was going to come but oh dear suddenly remembered I have a friend's birthday" (I've not heard that one before!), another one with a similar excuse and another one who just doesn't want to spend any money. I gave out invitations at college and some of the girls actually left the invitations behind which I found really rude. I must just be very very unpopular. Its not bad luck because if it was bad luck it wouldn't happen every single time I try to organise something. People just aren't interested. I may as well cut my losses and keep all the gorgeous stuff in my kit for myself.

Awww bless you, I am struggling to get the parties to but am determined to stick at it as when a party does go well even to only get £100 of sales means £20 comission which for a couple of hours I think is good. Trust me I do Betterware to and I get no where near as much but find the people I meet the only people stopping me from giving that up

I appreciate what you're saying I'm just so fed up with people giving silly excuses. Also that one particular friend from before who just is not interested, even though if she held a party she would have loads of people to invite and she'd probably do really well. Then there's the body shop woman I spoke about. She listed her favourite item as the global fusion hurricane which is on special next month so I dropped in a leaflet with the invitation but have heard nothing at all. I have enough stress in my life without dealing with all this too.

  • I think it's hard for those of us just starting out in this current climate. For those people with an existing client base its probably ok because their clients know the products ad are used to parties but it's difficult getting started in this current climate especially as I've just found out you have to have £400 sales a month to stay active - somebody please correct me if i'm wrong on this!

You are allowed 3 months off from achieving this but speak to your leaders as they may give you orders to put through.

I find being really close to my team is very helpful as I do get tips from the training sessions which helps.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Just Me - I know how you feel. I've yet to completely clear my kit and haven't got any bookings. Personally I'm going to give it till Christmas and give up then if it doesn't work out.

Although the ideal is to get friends and family to have parties, you can't rely on them to help you out. As one of my friends said, that's the first rule of sales! Try casting your net a bit further and you might get some parties.

Have you tried getting a table at 'pamper nights' or school fairs? This is a good website for events http://www.stallfinder.com/events-c9.html. Also try Netmums for your area. Have a look back in the thread - Candlegirl gave some websites to look at for events listings.

You really do need to treat this as a business - I know most of you on here are putting time and effort and it's not working out for you, but can say from experience you have to spend a couple of hours everyday in order to build.

I found that going along to events really do work but you have to plan them - you need to go along with a view of getting parties - take someone with you to help you, take the candle surveys or candle pool and talk to people this is the only way to get new contacts.
It worked for me - I had very few contacts when I started as my friends and family live to far away from me so I started very slow but I have put lots of time and effort and it's finally paying off.

Yes you do need to sell £400 a month to stay active but all that means if you don't stay active and still want to work you just tell your leader and she will tell head-office.
I am in constant contact with my girls so know what's going on - please if you have any worries or need help with anything contact your leader and she will be glad to help you if she can!

I physically don't have a couple of hours every day and don't want to have a career with PartyLite which is why I don't think its worth my while carrying on with it.

If you don't want to make it a career then there is no harm in carrying on doing it when something comes along - you will find after summer holidays with new catalogue lots of more interest - people wanting gifts for xmas.

Why not speak to your leader and tell her you are going to leave it for a while and then wait until xmas to see how you get on!
