I tried out a new booking idea the other day and it worked really well

I bought some gold envelopes and inside I put a small card with

Youve won ................ . I chose things like ex guest specials I picked up cheap , £10 extra hostess credit , mystery wax packs worth £15 ( I could use some cheap wax bought in using guest special wax offers for Feb ...works out at least 60% off RRP) . Anything else you want to get rid of like old stock . Many of the things I had won or got free. You could even write down "a bottle of free wine" to get their party started

When I asked about bookings at the show , I say the person who books a party can pick a gold envelope and that inside is a mystery gift that I will bring with me when they hold their show . They dont get it unless their show holds on the origional date booked . You can even use these gold envelopes to tie in to specific dates that you want filled in you diary . You could have white envelopes with smaller prizes for shows booked further on in your diary like the following month, so book sooner and get a gold envelope and get a better prize

These envelopes created so much excitement and everyone crowded round the guest who booked just to see what she had won

To get the prizeIdont insist that it's a £165+1 show because this makes them feel like they have to meet certain criteria ( the catch) . I'm taking a gamble , but chances are the party will be a good one anyway . If there is no criteria to meet they are also less likely to cancel their party . More bookings held= more business and sales = more people to meet= more chance of building my team by sponsering
Thanks for the tip thats really sounds like a good idea, will def give that one a go! Cheers
  • Am thinking about going to the national conference, what should I expect? Is it good, will it help my business? and is it true you get loads of free stuff?
  • Conference is amazing! I would definitely recommend it! Yep you do get loads of freebies and if its your first time of attending then you also get to go up on stage and get an extra freebie! Conference will also give you so many ideas and tips to grow your business.

    Fun is had my all.

Another theme to try similar to the gold envelopes is to have three gifts bags of three different sizes, if they book in the next week they get gifts to the value of £15, within two weeks gifts to the value of £10, within the month gifts to the value of £5 that you will bring with you on the night - they dont all have to be Partylite bits.

You can also offer the hostess extra discount of £10 credit for particular dates.

To those people thinking about joining, take a look at the other party plan companies out there. I work for the Body Shop at Home and I love it but I really do think it's important that you have a passion for the company that you choose. If candles are your thing then I'm sure that CandleGirl will be more than happy to give you more information. Likewise people on any of the other partyplan threads will be happy to give more information.

Before signing up please also think of your location, will you be able to get to team meetings with your manager? if not then does it matter with the company you're choosing?

I'm not trying to put anyone off, as you can see it's something that I do and love. I just think you need to think carefully about whether to join and which company to choose.

    Hi there
Im completely new, both to MSE and to partyplan, and would dearly love some honest to earth advice as to a) which partyplan would best suit my needs, and b) whether or not i can actually hope to reasonably earn £200 per month from doing so?
I have just given up working full time, through stress caused by bullying in the workplace, and have decided that with four young teens at home I actually do not want to work outside of the home for a year or so. However our income will be GREATLY reduced :(, my poor OH doesnt actually appreciate quite how much it will be reduced by, as I deal with all the finances in the home, and I realise I really will need to earn something to contribute. I have looked into and considered PartyPlan, (The Body Shop At Home, Avon and Partylite) and keep reading about Clicks and surveys but am sooo confused. Anyhow, sorry for bleating on, just really good do with some encouragement!!! :T
    Thankyou!

There is a comparison site but I don't know what it's called - I'll try and find it for you that compares kit price, commission etc. With PartyLite you would have to sell £1000 a month to earn £200 (20% commission) but if you upped that to £1200 (so only one more show) your commission would jump to £300 as you get an extra 5% when you sell £1200 or more in a month. Once you are up and running that it can be achieved. I'm not saying it's easy to achieve it as that would be mis-informing you. Direct sales is dependant on the amount of work you want to put in - what you put in you will get out in my opinion and sometimes it does take a wee while to get up and running but hopefully you would have friends and family to help you by hosting parties in your first few weeks.

Does this help or have I waffled????? :rotfl:

I do lots of fairs and pamper evenings and I use them to get new contacts, I se the candle survey and talk to everyone who approaches my table, this gets orders, parties & sponsors so use it wisely.

I would take some products along to get people to the table, and I also wrap a couple of tealights up in clear flower wrap and sell them for £1, or get a box and empty all your wax you have lying around and sell mix n match (any 2 tealights for 50p any 2 votives £1 etc etc), this gets people who have never used PartyLite to try our products and I always get their details to phone and see how they got on with the candles.

Hope this helps and good luck!
