Yep this is no problem you just won't be able to put their order through till you do yours! You could even use your friends as a starter party instead

    Hi all

Got a hopeful charity event coming up in a function room at a pub! I have no idea how to tackle this ... How do I do a charity event? What do others do? It will be various tables etc jewellery, and I will not be able to do a demonstration and I cannot buy stock as I cannot afford to do so!!

    Any ideas would be great!!

Hi Liz , heres a few tips for doing a charity event

    1. Take your kit and set it up looking really nice , make sure you show off your global fusion hurricane and esp the savannah sunrise ( I sell loads of these at events) . make sure you light them ( sounds silly but check with the event co-ordinator because some places will not let you burn candles)

    2. Take a black table cloth , plenty of order forms and a few catalogues , scent stackers etc

    3. This is really important , do a Free prize draw , offer a small prize like a scented tin etc and get them to fill in a prize draw slip ( email me and I can send you one , or get one from your upline ) , this prize draw questionarre usually asks them a series of questions like have they head of partylite before etc , would they consider having their friends round for a party ( if so when) , would they be interested in the job etc

4 . Ask people if they want to enter a free prize draw and get as many filled in as possible

    5. Take orders from the event ( you can get around delivery but putting any orders on the CBC as gift certs , because so long as order is over £10 , they will send the order out directly to the customer )

    6. Don't hide behind the stall , stand up if you can and speak to people , break the ice by letting them know they can pick up the candles and smell them etc , and ask them if they have heard of PL

    7. Don't expect huge sales/orders as this doesn't always happen , expect to cover your costs and anything else is a bonus

    8. Within a week of the event , go through the prize draw slips and ring those people interested in having parties or interested in the job . if they say no not now , dont worry just call them back when they want you to even if thats in Jan or Feb next year , as they will often say no to start with then eventually book when the time is right for them .

Good luck , and if I can help you anymore p.m me

PartyLite normally charge for delivery for anything under £80 but gift certificates are different , they dont charge a delivery charge on anything ordered by gift certificate providing it is at least £10 and will sent the order out directly to the customer

Supposing you had some orders from the catalogue at the event and you didn't want to deliver it ( it's not so bad if they are local but otherwise there is a lot of running around ) You could order gift certificates to that amount and when they arrive place the order on a gift certificate . You will need to explain to the customer that it's free delivery on anything above £10

    Hope this explains it

Thats fantastic! well done!!! It's great they booked into January as I always think that January and August are the hardest months to get bookings. Thank goodness that P/L came up with a great offer for hostess's in January, all those free boxes of votives will go down a treat
