Can someone help me with tips how to invite people to your first party (not family or friends)? Do you put an advertising in the newspaper or on the web?

    Thanks

I guess it would depend where you are holding it! Mystartrr party/first party was at my house so I only invited friends and friends of friends I wasn't comfortable with having strangers in my house. You could put invites through neighbours doors etc though

First party of November for me tonight. Fingers crossed for good sales so she gets loads of freebies with the 25% commission.

Your first party should really be with friends, family etc

Use the FRANK list - friends, friends of friends, old workmates, new workmates, neighbours even neighbours you don't know yet this will give you chance to get to know them, people you slightly know like your hairdresser, girls or guys ;) from the gym, any clubs or groups you belong to, if you have kids any parents you know etc etc etc.

Isn't it that if you invite people to come to a 'party' that it actually turns out to be a selling / recruitment event? I would feel really embarrassed if none of them gave up not to be interested.

What do people exactly buy at a party? It is what you get in the starterkit, do they browse the catalogue or do you give the catalogue with them so that they can take a look at it at their spare time. If they do browse catalogue only during the party how much time do they usually need before they make an order.

The party starts of with a game to get to know everyone and then the consultant does a demonstration using the starter kit. In the demonstration the candles are passed round along with some of the holders etc . The consultant usually goes through all the specials for that month and what's on offer for the hostess. Catalogues are then passed round and then guests are given time to look through and place an order if they want to ( there is no obligation to buy if someone doesn't want to ) . The consultant will mention their job and why they started and if anyone is interested in becoming a consultant then she will contact them later with more information ( again no pressure) . How the party is done will vary between consultants , but that is the basic format . After any orders are made , the total is added up and commission given to the hostess for her to spend in the catalogue. Extra commision is given if sales at the party reach £165 plus one person booking a party . The commision rate varies depending upon the month ( for e.g 25% in November for £165 sales plus a booking ) . The hostess gets to buy items up to half price called "hostess specials " and there are also "guest specials" designed for the guests . Partylite works roughly the same way as most other partyplan companies such as Vie at home, bodyshop , jamie at home etc etc . The only difference being the amount of free products the hostess can get ( as they usually get quite a lot ) .
  • Has everyone got their "reflections" through ? Ive just been going through the discontinued list , I can't believe they are getting rid of Agave Nectar and White Gardenia Truffle , and the gold mosaic hurricane. Love the january hostess offer though ( all those free votives and holder !!) should really help with getting bookings into January . Hope the new smells are good
