Like many here, I take my own lunch to work. Its usually sandwiches although sometimes it could be last nights leftovers for a change now and then... like today! :)

At a guess I would say no more than £1 a day too...

I've been trying to price my lunch but it's difficult.

I always make soup with whatever is on its last legs in the fridge (pea & ham today) and take it in a tub to heat up in the microwave at work (so a flask would be nice!).

With this I have a thick slice of HM bread and a bag of value crisps. For pudding I have a jar of HM yoghurt (1 litre UHT milk, 2 tbst yoghurt from the previous batch, 2 tbsp dried milk makes about 10 good size tubs) with some honey in it.

Add in a piece of whatever fruit is on offer and I reckon I spend no more than 80p for a really substantial meal.

I sit there with my lunch and watch colleagues come in with really inferior bought stuff, and I think I am allowed a smug moment!
Oh dear, here we go again.

About £1.00 - £1.50 for the 4 of us unless my son is having school dinners that day - they cost £1.90!!
  • currently spending £3 / 4 per day but with the credit crunch have had to take a serious look at my finances!
it would be nice to eat a lil more healthly... for my own well being as well as my wallets!
  • I'm lucky at work as we have a little kitchen downstairs with a microwave and a panini maker! So i usually spend about £1.50 if i bring stuff in from home - either left overs reheated in microwave or a ham and cheese sandwich toasted in the panini maker, with a yoghurt and maybe packet of crisps
