  • are you letting the glow plugs do their job?

Was the tank nearly completley empty when you got it?

how long have you had it

    whats the mileage

    whats leack off?
  • could be the low pressure fuel pump, if its a bosch my money is it on that be intermittant
  • there is no pre-heater light coming on but is say in the book that comes with car that this only comes on when the outside temp is very cold
  • It's usually the leak off pipes, but if they've been changed them it could be something towards to immobiliser side of things?
  • Once it has started it is fine even if I do the school run which is all of a 2 min drive away then go to my mams then back to the car ( it will be left for a hour or so ) it will then start no probs.
Last thursday was the first time the pre-heater light came on and it started first time then I did notice the outside temp was 7 degrees. Dose it have to be at this temp or below before the pre-heating works ?

Did they check the battery? (probably really stupid question). Is the car turning over at all?

im not 100% with your car but all diesels ive ever driven have always had the glow plug light come on,even in the summer, even if its just for a few seconds its always come on at start up.
it could be the glow plug timer that is faulty if the plugs themselves have been tested and are ok.

  • Sounds like a problem with the glow plug side of things. Maybe relay or plugs themselves. Have you been on any vectra forums for common faults?

another thing,it could be a problem with one or more of the injectors, its a long shot and quiet expensive so try the cheaper options first.

no harm in having them tested though.

  • Could be a fuel leak leading to air in the lines. Is there any hint of a diesel smell from the engine bay?
