I would have a chat with some one who knows employment law as I have a feeling that is illigeal or entirely suspect. I certainly would not like to be working under those conditions.

I know Acas says it not illegal not to have a contract but we should have a statement of employment we questioned this and he said this is verbal and what ever he decides on the day

The firm may be FSA regulated but your job may not be. I would suggest you get in touch with the FSA tomorrow and discuss all the in's and out's of bankruptcy and your job. I would not rely on your boss to give you the answers.

Just on the job front, unless your job is regulated by the FSA then you should be ok. I worked in Financial services for a long time and my job was regulated by the FSA as I was in advisory role for a while so BR was not an option for me. However, since my redundancy earlier this year, I'm no longer working in the same industry I'm actually earning more money and in less of a dodgy industry!

    Good luck.
