    Hi,

I am currently around 9 months into a DMP with CCCS and all our creditors have been great so far with minimal hassling! However, today we received a letter from Northern Rock saying that our temporary payment arrangement is coming to an end and they want us to contact them. They also want to know ALL our outstanding debts and our income and expenditure!

We did not disclose this to them before and don't want to now - what is our best course of action? Refer them to CCCS for this information or do we have to give it to them if they request it.

I don't want to do nothing as the letter states that if we don't respond within 7 days they will assume that we can make our normal payments again!

    Any advice much appreciated.

If this is a debt on your DMP (and you are not referring to a mortgage or secured loan with Northern Rock), and they require an update of your situation, then you can ring our Client Support team for a review and update of your budget. This will then be forwarded to your creditors. If you have been on a DMP with us for 9 months, your review would be due shortly anyway.

    Regards
    Sue

    Great.

My wifes ex-husband, who is on a DMP with CCCS, has just got Sky +HD multi-room for his 4 bed detached house. Im afraid the CCCS is a joke when they take on trust that the SOA provided to them is actually a true picture. Surely some form of checking needs to take place? Surely there is something very wrong with a situation when someone on a DMP can take 4 foreign holidays a year, change their car every 6 months (for a brand new one each time), live in a luxury 4 bed house and wear designer clothes? And on top of that he pays zero maintenance for his children as he has 'no assets no income' (he works in financial services and is good at hiding his true status).

What a joke. It makes a mockery of all the decent people who use CCCS as a means of paying their debts off in a responsible manner.

    Hi Fossildog.

    Thank you for your email

When a client sets up a DMP we ask for proof of income and debts.
We do trust our clients to be honest regarding their expenditure.
Their budget is reviewed regularly to keep up with any changes to their circumstances.
If a client is dishonest and not paying the full amount they can realistically afford,it will take longer for them to clear the debts and so would not be to their advantage.

    Regards

I've had a DMP since 2003 and i now owe a relatively small amount compared with what i started with - thanks to sell my flat and having £18000 equity.

I lost my job earlier this year ( i worked in mortgage industry) and have taken lesser paid job ( over £3000 less a year). Even though i know i'm making payments and its what i can afford i feel worse than ever. I dont socialise with friends as i cant afford to go out and i've been single for well over a year because i dont think anyone will want me with all this debt.

To make matters worse i had a goldfish card i've been paying through my dmp with interest frozen and this was sold onto Cabot Finance in March and they are adding interest - £211 since they took it over!!! This is only £18 less than the payments i have made so i feel like i am getting nowhere. They are little help and had asked when i was out of work for interest to be frozen twice but it fell on deaf ears. I just feel like i am never going to be free of them - I owe them £2541. My other two debtors are more understanding.

I just dont know what to do next - i feel helpless and trapped by Cabot. I will never pay them off at this rate and will owe them more!

I have asked them to forward a copy of the agreement detailing interest calculations and rates....no response :confused:
    Hi Neveragain

    Thank you for your email

Unfortunately the creditors are under no obligation to freeze interest and charges. It is at their discretion. When you are on a DMP we always continue to ask the creditors to consider stopping interest and charges.

It may be helpful if you sent them an update of your budget showing your current situation.

Have you had a review of your plan recently? I would recommend you contact our client support team.

If there have been changes in your circumstances and you are struggling to pay the deposit on your DMP, there may be other options we could consider.

    Regards

    Hi Misty Blue,

When creating our budgets we can add DLA as an income if the client is happy to include it. If it is included we encourage the client to make sure all the necessary costs that the DLA is used for are also included.

If the client requests not to include the DLA then we can leave it out, but obviously we need make sure that any expenditure that the DLA is used for is also left out the budget.

    Hope this helps,
    CCCS

If your on a DMP, and you sometime do overtime at work, not guarenteed overtime, but it may mean that some months my income can go up £200 1 month,

Can 1 off payments be included in the DMP, so say i do overtime for a couple of months and have £500 can this be given to be spread between my creditors or do they take a percentage?

How else can the DFD be brought forward without increasing the DMP payment evry month?

    Thanks
  • had this interview arranged for ages. When the guy phoned he just said my best bet was to go bankrupt and pointed me to a website to download form etc.
Not being ungrateful would have liked a bit more advice and help.
    Is this the norm.

  • We had a bailiff call round today to collect money, we missed a couple of arranged payments due to a car crash and loss of earnings about a month ago.
total debt at the time was 177.01
the bailiff has now told me that I must pay 267.01 to him on friday or he will remove posessions from my home.
now I can understand them adding a charge for coming out onto the debt, but it states reasonable charge, I don't see how 49% of my initial debt can be deemed to be reasonable. Are there any guidlines on the amount they can charge, do i have any comeback at all?
I have arranged to make the payment on friday but I'm just a bit p**sed off at the moment after the way this bailiff harrased my pregnant wife on the doorstep this afternoon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Marc
