Hi
My husband and I are entering a debt management plan. On tuesday we had a CCCS counsellor that phoned us and whom lovely and took all our details. Because we waited 3 weeks for a counsellor to phone us we were advised to make payments to our creditors for a token payment of a £1. Anyway, we've not heard anything until today. We've had a letter from GE capital saying that they cannot withold our account from charges or interest until they receive a payment and could we phone them. Also halifax have phone 4 times today on the house phone. We luckily have caller display and avoid these calls.
So 2 questions, One, should we get into contact by phone with GE capital like they've asked, when we've already asked to communicate by letter only? Do we need to tell the CCCS about this?
And two, should we answer the phone to Halifax or leave it?
Thanks in advance for your replies.DMP started Jan 09 £55,509.29  current balance is £21,482.49p:(0 -
I have recently entered into a debt management plan, my budget has been agreed and letters sent to all my creditors. I have an interest only mortgage on the variable rate and today received notification that my monthly payment has come down by over £100. What should I do? Do I re adjust my budget to reflect the change in outgoings? What if the rate goes back up again? Also my mortgage is with one of my main creditors (credit card, loans and overdraft) can they demand that I increase my payments? This creditor has not accepted the proposals and is in the process of passing on the debt.
Any help is appreciated0 -
Hi,
Done the online debt remedy and it has indicated a low start dmp or iva. After careful consideration I have decided to go ahead with the iva route in the new year. Up to press I have manged to pay minimum payments but now interest free period has ended on several of the cards etc cant keep up with this for long. Unsure what to do now before I look in to the iva, do I start on the DMP and then transfer to iva when I am ready to do so or will CCCS make me then stay on dmp? Or do I write to creditors and offer minimal payments? Or do I just amke the min payments as long as poss then go for iva? Dont want the iva to be turned down though if I have been making the min payments and credit rating still ok is there less chance of iva being turned down? As just cause I am making the min payments not paying anything off and cant live like this any longer, hoever will thy see it like this?
sorry to natter on but please advise.0 -
Exactly the same thing happened to me, original loan 5500, 13 years ago, paid off £6000 + the current debt company who now own it say I owe £17000, however because it is the biggest "debt" they get the largest part of my disposable income, bit of a coincidence ! If I knew then what I know now I would have had no contact with any of the creditors, moved to another house when I could, dropped off the radar for 6 years then all the debts would have been written off. problem was I stayed in the same house and kept the same phone number and tried to be honest.x M0

Thank you Sarah
This seems so unfair when I am actually aiming to settle my debts in full raher than go down the IVA route. Effectively my creditors in their actions are encouraging me to go down the IVA route through which they could only reap what I could pay over the next five years.
Before I rush down the IVA route, would it make a difference
1. If I could get them to agree to a set plan to pay in full (This is what MBNA have already done with a ten-year plan) would this be different or is it still a question of clearing the debt in full.
2. If it does make a difference to the credit file quicker, is it a difficult thing in your experieince to get creditors to agree to?0 -
If you have a credit card debt in your name and off your income when you first took it out. Then when you run into difficulties and go onto a dmp the credit card company ask for the household income and will not help any further until they have the household income even when you have an offer to them of your own income and not the household income. Can they do this?cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help me with a couple of (hopefully) simple questions!
1) For a Default to be registered with experian etc does there have to be a corresponding Consumer Credit Agreement? Or can creditors issue defaults and have them registered with non CCA covered credit?
I have actually paid the bill in question - I was working abroad for a while a couple of years ago and forgot to put the bill in question on DDThis isn't a mechanism for dodging the money.
I have searched the site for this and come across a lot of references to "CCA-ing" the company in question, but not a specific answer to my question (apologies in advance if it's there!).
2) I have a CCJ from the same period from my water company - again the bill had come in, I wasn't here etc etc. I paid it immediately, which was only 48hrs outside the 28 day grace period. Is there anything I can do about this? Can CCJs be reversed? Or do I just have to sit out the six years?
All this happened a couple of years ago. I read a couple of references to 2007 and I don't know what this means!
Thanks so much for any help!0 -
this morning i contacted the company that has taken my electric debt over, to try and sort out a payment plan to repay the debt of £131.70, i offered £10 per month and they point blank refused my offer. i explained that i am a single parent on benefits and that was all i could afford to repay, but again they refused to accept my payment, is there anything else i can do they are threatening me with people coming to my door and also court action. tia x0

I received a Final Notice from a company called ScotCall Debt Collecting Services today for £58.50. I rang and found out it was with regards to Plumb Center from who I bought a shower from in January this year - 11 months ago!
My cheque did bounce but was represented and cleared. Apparently from what I can gather Plumb Center used Certegy Limited to get the money for them and they in turn are now charging me the £58.50 for that service to Plumb Center. Thhis is 11 months ago though!
Can I contest this in any way as I got charged by the bank for the cheque bouncing and Plum Center got there money 2 days later?
Thank you for your help and advise in advance.0
