Thanks for the reply.
I don't think I explained myself correctly.
By me applying for a card transfer or consolidation loan, and as I understand it, the automated systems these lenders use think I'm trying to get more credit when processing my application.
I've been told this is why I was turned down.
What I'm after is a process/lender that will do a card transfer or a consolidation loan and as part of the deal they close my existing cards. Therefore in an underwriters eyes I'm not getting any more credit, but simply moving it.
Hope that makes sense?!!
Thanks again,
Kenny.
Hi Kenny,
Thank you for your reply.
I think what Sue was referring to is the interest on the account. Say for example you have 10K worth of debt over various credit cards and loans, if you take out a 10K loan to clear this then you would owe the lender 10K plus interest that could add up to another couple of thousand pounds on top .
A general pattern that we see and many people on the forums will confirm, is they will consolidate all the debts and further down the line the credit card balances sneak up again. So again they consolidate, it’s a very slippery slope.
If you feel that you are struggling with payments, I would recommend that you seek advice from an independent organisation such as the CCCS, CAB or National Debtline. If you would like an appointment with the CCCS then please call 0800 138 1111.

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help.
I had a debt with Link Financial (original loan was with GE Money) of £8,000 which ended up in court and I now have a CCJ of £60pm due to start 15th April which I am happy with - or was until I discovered yesterday when Link Financial telephoned me to arrange for ways for me to pay it that they will be continuing to charge interest on this and the approximate figure would be
£130pm. This means that I will never be able to pay this off and will get deeper and deeper into debt.
Has anyone else got experience of this and have they managed to come to any
sort of arrangement with Link Financial at all (oh and by th way my debt has now jumped to £8,400ish between them taking me to court and the judgement,
(this being approx 6 months).
I would like to see if there is anyway they would either freeze the interest, reduce/cap it or even come to a final settlement with them. I would like the settlement option but when I tried to negotiate this before the court date they were not interested in giving any reduction whatsoever and the person helping me could not raise the full amount.
Please help as this has been hanging over me for a while and I am so stressed.
Many thanks
Katcot
Hello,
It is possible for interest to be charged once a CCJ has been granted. There are a couple of things that you could look into. The first being, if you are paying £60 per month on £8400 then this is going to take you around 12 years to clear, so if there is going to be charging interest charged then this is going to take a lot longer.
Just on this point, I think you need to seek advice and have a debt counsellor to look into your long term options.
The other thing is if you are happy paying the debt then you could apply to the court for a time order, this is a way of re scheduling the payment/ terms of the debt. Again if you wanted to go down this route then I would recommend that you discuss this with us.
If you would like an appointment, please call 0800 138 1111.

Starting a DMP in May. Paid token payments of £5 to creditors. All ok so far except Yorkshire Bank phoned my hubby today and said if they don't have the correct minimum payment or notification from CCCS within 5 days then solicitors are involved! They also asked if our mortgage payments were up to date - why? - mortgage not even with them!!
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hello,
Try not to worry, this is standard collections tactics. I have attached a link to the CCCS website for you to have a read of. The information on the link is about the collections process, so this is basically the steps a creditor can take.
http://www.cccs.co.uk/InfoCentre/EnglandandWales/Creditoraction/Debtcollectionprocess.aspx
If the phone calls are getting too much, just write them a short letter and ask them to remove your number from their database and they should do this for you.
Hope this helps

Hi
I have the misfortune of having to deal with a real B**ch who has always had one thing on her mind to get, so here we are. My question, she now has a judgemnet for clainment, and she wants to get a charging order on my property when she gets this what can she do with ? or is there something I can do to halt her ( other than pay her, which I am not able to do).
thanks for taking the time to look at this0 -
Im on a dmp got my 1st welcome pack sent the latest statements ect got phone call saying 1 wasnt there then the lady noticed it was and said the next welcome pack would be sent in the post with a payment slip for the post office.
But i havent recieved it yet does it come just before u make your 1st payment
(1st payment is in may)
Are you on a DMP with the CCCS? If so, I would recommend that you give our client support number a call and they will look into it for you. I don’t deal with that side of things so don’t want to guess and give you the wrong information
As far as I am aware the welcome packs are send out around the same time as the proposals.

Thank you for your reply Sarah.
I've not heard of a time order before. Could you please tell me how this
works and also do I just write to the court?
I also forgot to mention that I was 58 years old in February so time is
important.
Many thanks

What would be the best way or making a proposal, no payments have been made for over a year and baiscally the Bank has advanced various sums over the past years by way of overdrafts loans etc for his business which has failed. The Court hearing is in a month so no idea whether he can get it adjourned as he may need more time to raise monies, he is hoping family can help him out so he could make some sort of offer, can he get it adjourned or does the Claimant also have to agree to this? Just trying to help him out as he's getting old and very stressed out about the whole matter, he doesn't want to lose his family home and is too old to get a mortage for more than 5yrs approx say (even though there is plenty of equity in his house.).Any advice, suggestions etc

The mrs received a recorded delivery letter today, that she had to sign for, which turns out is from a DCA. It relates to a brewery for which she was a temporary landlord that claims she owes them a few hundred pounds. The brewery had not been in touch before about anything owed, (she left about 9 months ago), and the letter from the DCA gives no details about what it is for, other than the amount and comments like payment must be received within 48 hours or you risk a cjj and extra court costs etc.
Is it best to write or ring them asking for more information on what it is and to provide such information in writing? Or to maybe write a prove it type letter to the DCA?
Thanks.
Hi Andy,
Thank you for your message.
Is the debt in her name or the name of the business? If it’s a business debt then she could contact a charity called Business Debtline for advice. If it’s all in her name and she is liable then she could just make an arrangement to pay the debt based on a financial statement.
If she needs any help completing a financial statement then she can call our helpline to arrange an appointment. Our number is 0800 138 1111.
