Hello,
Thank you for your message.
It’s difficult to give you detailed advice on your options as we don’t have your full financial details. However you can visit our online debt advice facility called Debt Remedy. Debt Remedy would assist you in completing a financial statement and you would be provided with tailored advice on the best way to deal with your situation. Click here to go directly to Debt Remedy.
If you would prefer to talk to a debt counsellor about your situation, you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process. If you have this information ready it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor if one is available, otherwise we will arrange a time that is convenient for you to be called back for an appointment.

Hi, my son is 18 and in college full time, he gets EMA of £30 a week, he has never been in debt and is very sensible with his money. He has tryed to get a mobile phone with Orange and was refused, I told him it is because he has no credit rating. He doesnt want a credit card, he said he doesnt want to get in debt.
How can he build a credit rating without getting into debt?
Any help would be appreciated, he has never applied for anything in his life until he tried the mobile phone contract.0 -

Hello
Clicked the GO AHEAD to processthe DMP with CCCS.
(1) How long before I get my welcome pack ?
(2) Shall I prepare copies or anything so I can return it all with the signed agreement ?
(3) When the agreement and copy paper work has been sent back - what does CCCS do ? Do they send letters to all creditors asking to stop interest charges and agree for the reduced monthly payment ?
(4) What happens if a creditor doesn't agree the deduction OR stop the interests ? because I wouldn't want CCCS paying the reduced price, because the balance would be going up surely if the interest charges are added on top ?... what happens
(5) Can I withdrawe at anytime ?
(6) If I paid £300 per month and the money was split and a credit was then cleared, the additional money is paid against another ? - statement CCCS provide should match to the statements off the creditors ref to payments made ?
(7) I have a loan.... by doing this DMP, it reduced the term by 7 years. The DMP is just paying the monthy amount but as other creditors get cleared, can extra be paid against my loan ? if so cool and if the loan is paid off early, the origional balance would evenutally be less, due to paying it off earlier ?
(8) - DO I NEED to send any letters to the creditors ?
(9) - I pay all my creditors on the 1st day of each month... WHAT happens or what do I do if CCCS are not ready to make the payment... ? READ that people have send a goodwill payment with a letter saying what doing and that to except the goodwill payment until CCCS have got themselves up and ready... is that true, but how would I know if CCS were rady or not.... and what letter would I need to send GOODWILL PAYMENT if i do AND HOW MUCH ?
So many questions.... but I just like to know in advance so I can be one step in front and everyone gets paid and happy like me!....
It hasn;t started yet but I do feel alot fo weight starting to lift off my shoulders......
What experiances has people had ? good or bad.....
Thank you
SO really I need to keep a file of CCCS statements of how payments are split and a file for the creditors to make sure the balances match.0 -

This summer i graduated from university with a £1750 0% overdraft with HSBC which was then reduced to £1500 0% and a £1750 overall limit. After i graduated i had to move back home and leave both of the part time jobs i had while at university, i couldn't claim any job seekers allowance until september and my phone bill and traveling to the job center (i wasn't told i wouldn't get money for the summer so i had to keep signing) meant that my overdraft has been bouncing about around £1800, i get charged fees every month for being not just over the 1500 0% amount but over the actual overdraft limit of £1750. On top of this i was overpaid by one of my previous employers and didn't realise, i was over paid about £300 and came to an agreement to pay £30 a month while unemployed, i recently got a temp position at the same company and they now want to take £145 a month to pay it back, i only work 24 hours a week and it costs me over £125 transport and so this would leave me with very little to try and sort out the fees etc on the overdraft.
I have applied to move my graduate account to another bank with a higher 0% limit but suspect that my job being only temporary and that i have a poor credit rating from all the fees and also some bounced payments on an account that was to pay the bills in my shared house at university, that i will not be accepted.
I wondered if there is anything that means that i can say to my current employer that they cannot take so much from me out of my wages? I cannot afford it and i think it would end up with me being in even more difficulties, if they did i would have to borrow more money from my parents to even get to the job (i am already borrowing for this month) and i would not be able to rectify my situation with the bank at all so would almost be not worth me actually working there. It was their mistake that they overpaid me so i wondered if there is something somewhere that says i should not be put into further financial difficulty by they taking as much back as they can?
Any help would be really appreciated, i am getting really stressed about it and no-one seems to have any idea about what i can do.
Hello,
Thank you for your message.
You could try and put together a detailed financial statement so your work can see your situation. As it’s your employer, that debt would take priority over credit debts at the moment as they can just take an amount out of your wage anyway. If your work doesn’t agree to a reduced amount then you could offer any credit debits a lower payment until your wages are back on track.

A few of my creditors are joint accounts with my ex husband. If he were to settle the accounts himself/Pay off lump sums would this still be seen as 'unfair treatment' to the other creditors?
Thank you!
Hello,
That would be fine as nobody can stop your ex husband clearing the debts. For you it would mean that the money that normally gets paid to those debts would then be distributed between your other creditors.
