I look at my MBNA card statement and fine 3 alternative addresses!
Can anyone please help me and tell me which address is best to send my letters to? I've seen a Chester, Bolton and Widnes address, so confusing and I don't want any delays.
Thanks everybody.

Hi Fluff,
Thank you for your message.
Send it to the address on the back of your statements. When you send the payment make sure your reference number is also on there so they know what account to allocate your payments too.

Helloo
I AM doing my own DMP .. because PP say they I don't have enough surplus for them.. I beg to differ.. but still.
Anyway.. my question is.
I know how to make payments to my credit cards.. But what about the 2 loans I have?
They are both attached to their same bank.. bank accounts that I have.
One has an overdraft facility.. the other doesn't.
Oh.. let me explain it better.
One is a Cahoot loan.. that I have a bank account with too.. (which is £500 -OD)
The money for that loan WAS being paid from my Barclays account. (but no longer because I stopped the DD)..
The other loan is from HSBC.. the bank account with them is in credit.. and has no overdraft facility. The payment for that loan (usually) comes from my HSBC bank account. (I have a £2250 credit card with them too)
arrghh!.. I explained it even MORE badly..:o
How do I make payments to those 2 loans?
I think I know what you mean.
All debts that you have outstanding need to have a reduced payment including overdrafts. If you have any debts at all with a lender, you would need to set up a new account somewhere else where you have no debts.
Once you have your new account open, you would need to arrange for any income to be paid into there and any priority expenditure to be debited from that account.
The best way of making reduced payments’ would be either by standing order or payment book rather than direct debit.

Thanks Sarah. Don't think I was quite clear. One of my debts was/is with Sainsbury's = HBOS = Halifax. So there was a link.
What I wanted to know was now the debt has been sold and Sainsbury's/HBOS don't own it any more, does the Right to Offset still apply ie could they still remove money from the Halifax account even though they have fully sold on the debt.
Thanks again
If the debt is sold on to another company the bank would not have the right to offset as they no longer own the account.
If the debt has been passed to a collection agency, then they would, as they would be acting on behalf of the creditor and the creditor would still own the account.

Hi Sarah,
After filling in the Debt Remedy online, it has been suggested that we go into a DMP with the CCCS. I have previously been self managing and although it is going ok, it's very confusing having many paymetns going to creditors.
If we were to go into a DMP with CCCS, would I stop the payments that are going out this month and send a nominal payment?? We wouldn't be able to make payment to CCCS until 15th June so DMP would start in July.....would my creditors kick off at this, as its effectivly two payments of an already reduced amount being missed??
ThanksMade it - 15 years married!! Finally!! xx:beer:0 -
indirestraits wrote: »Hi, I hope you can help,
I currently have two high interest credit cards (one 500, the other 250) with about 100 overdue balance on each. I previously took out a payday loan of 400 which I thought I could pay off with my Christmas bonus which was then not given so I took out another in a panic of 350. So now I have two payday loans which I am having to renew each month just as I can't pay the full amount and CC's with overdue balances that I can't pay along with the bills for my flat now. I am also now a month behind with my bills and rent as well as having a tenancy renewal fee to pay.
I have a total of £1600 to go out next week and only £950 coming in.
I was thinking of taking out a consolidation loan as I need to take quick action but I'm being told by these companies that I won't be able to get one, either because of my credit rating or because my total debt is not large enough and that a debt management programme is the best solution. I really don't know what to do and I need a quick solution. Is a DMP the best thing for me?
Hello,
Don’t consolidate, as all this does is more the debt from one place to another and increases the overall interest you will pay.
If possible, you need to try and cancel these cheques with your bank and then make a reduced payments to the payday loans company.
You priority is to make sure that all your household costs stay up to date and you have enough money for food etc. To ensure this if you have any other unsecured creditors you would need to cancel the direct debits and make them a goodwill gesture payment of an amount you can afford to pay.
I would not be able to say if a DMP is an option for you, as I don’t have your full financial details. You can visit our online debt advice facility called Debt Remedy. Debt Remedy would assist you in completing a financial statement and you would be provided with tailored advice on the best way to deal with your situation. Click here to go directly to Debt Remedy.
If you would prefer to talk to a debt counsellor about your situation, you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process. If you have this information ready it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor if one is available, otherwise we will arrange a time that is convenient for you to be called back for an appointment.I am a Debt Counsellor that works for the CCCS and have specific permission from Martin, to post on these boards to try and help those in debt. Good afternoon everyone and thanks for a helpful and great site.
Having lost my job and relocated from Manchester to Kent I have some debt I would like to clear, this includes a CCJ. I had a pack sent to me by the CCCs in the middle of last year but this has become lost in transit. I understand that the CCCS now offer a payment or DMP service - does this involve the CCCS writing to my debtors and me making a payment to the CCCS forthem to distribute between my debtors?0 -
debtfreewish wrote: »hi I have been in touch with a company dealing with DMPs and IVAs and they have said I would be eligible for both. I would prefer a DMP and think this is the best way of clearing my debt but I'm aware this company may not be the best to go with due to the profit they make which extends the time it will take to pay off my debt.
I have been told it should take 6 years to clear the debt my only concern is that I may be emigrating in 2 years time.
My question is if I do need to emigrate will I still be able to pay off my debts using a DMP while I'm living abroad? Ideally I'd like to pay the debts off before emigrating but if this is not possible I would like to continue to pay them off via the DMP.
If I do emigrate I will still have ties with the UK and a UK bank account. I may even rent my house out here unless I later find I need to sell.
Many thanks for your time.
Hello,
You would be able to continue with a dmp if you moved abroad. I would recommend that you look at setting one up with a non profit organisation such as CCCS, National Debtline or CAB. This means that your debts would reduce down quicker as you would be paying no fees.

Hi - stupid question I know but..... we are just writing out our 9!!!! letters to creditors that CCCS have send us to send out and am just stuck really with box 6 the reason why. Does pure stupidty count as a reason and overspending and living?! That is what got us into this mess in the first place, me losing a high paid job and us setting up a family who are now 5 and 2 and me working only part time and paying huge nursery costs and a house that needed work doing to it!
So my question is what should I write in the reason box?
Also, sorry, 2 debts are with banks Alliance and Leicester and Barclays - we have opened another bank account with Abbey and received cards etc and made arrangements for all bills etc and wages to go into there and out of there from this month, BUT the new bank account is part of the Santender Group which is who Alliance and Leicester are with - will this matter? Don't think our work would be too impressed if we submitted another change of bank details. Is it really going to matter if our new banking is with Abbey can they really let A&L take our money to pay off their overdraft bill, our A&L is £950 overdraft and Barclays is £2,080 which we are adding to out DMP.
Thanks
Hello,
Thank you for your message.
Reason for debt could be does depend on your circumstances i.e. reduced income, lost overtime, hours reduced, over committed on credit etc
To be 100% sure that they don’t have access to your money I would recommend that you do change your account again.

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help. I currently have unsecured debts of around 15,000 pounds and this is getting impossible to pay back every month. I am thinking of taking a DMP out. I am married and the mortgage is soley in my name. I was wondering if the DMP will effect my credit rating and effect my ability to find a good remortgage deal when my current deal expires in January 2010. Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
