  • Evening All,

Just received my initial stuff from CCCS after completing the Debt Remedy online. Just a couple of quick questions if I may:

    1. I can't find the original Debt Remedy booklet I got - will I get a copy of my budget? Just want to update my spreadsheet so I can keep track of things!

    2. Payments are taken on the 1st of each month - when is mine likely to start if I get the stuff back this week? i.e. you probably won't get it until Monday.

    Thanks.

    Hi
I'm a newbie here but have read numerous things about this company on this forum, apparantley they use scare tactics to make you up your offer.
I have just done a quick search online and found he company website, I suggest you have a look at it yourself, they have a question and answer section, one question states, I have been contacted by Capquest what should I do next ? their answer is as follows, please contact us by telephone or by writing to us at (address given)
If they telephone you again just quote what it says on their website and tell them you will correspond by mail, if they hassle you, send them the letter that is on this forum somewhere, the good thing about them having a website is the fact that it lists the directors name etc, which is very handy for complaints in the future.
They also say that they will work wwith you to let you make a payment that you can afford, ha ha

I contacted CCCS last year for help with my debts and I am currently paying £30 per month to 7 creditors. I was paying MBNA £8 per month which they said was too low. I received a letter yesterday from Lewis Debt Recovery saying the debt has been passed to CL Finance Limited. They are asking for the full amount of £3257 to be paid to them immediatley which I obviously cannot afford. I still want to keep making my £8 payments in the meantime rather than stop paying but am unsure as to how I should go about this. Should I make contact and if so what should I say?
Any help will be much appreciated.
    Thanks
  • Hi,
Im hoping i can get some advice on my current DMP that I have with CCCS. I started it last year after i had to take a pay cut at work in order for me to keep my job. I have been paying £396 per month on debts totalling £29k. £150 pf my monthly payment came from a contribution from my partner.

Unfortunately rather than improving as I hoped it would my situation has got worse as my partner is now out of work and can no longer afford to give me any money. Also, due to the fact that he is self employed he apparently does not qualify for any help from the government as he has not made 'enough' contributions towards NI over the last 2 years, so effectively he now has to live off me until he gets more work in. Plus to help him out he has moved in with me and so my monthly outgoings such as food and heating etc has increased because of this.

As such, i need to reduce my monthly payment to CCCS to around £200 per month. Im just concerned that my creditors wont accept this as a few of them have already been quite difficult to deal with and i just know that reducing my payments will cause me even further hassle and I dont think I can cope with the constant calls and letters from them anymore.

Do you think that they will accept this lower payment or should I consider an IVA? Bankruptcy is just not an option for me as I will be starting a training contract soon to be a solicitor and I know that if ive been bankrupt i cant practice as a solicitor.

My only concern with an IVA is that i owe around 78% of my money to one creditor so if they reject it then it cant go ahead.

Im so sorry for the long post but I dont know what to do.

    Hi there

    I need some advice.

I am £15K in debt, and am just about keeping my head above water. I am meeting repayments and have cut back on everything i can think of in order to save money. After bills, rent, repayments, travel and food costs, my monthly expendable income is about £80 which is not enough to make any substantial changes to the amount of money I owe. I want to be able to save and clear my debts, but I cannot at the moment. It has been like this for the last five years.

I am working hard to earn my money but my debts are now affecting my health and outlook on life: they feel unsurmountable and I am generally anxious and stressed about my financial position. I have made any number of sacrifices and/or compromises to my quality of life because of my debt though I feel like I am not getting anywhere.

Is there anything I can do to ease the situation and reduce my debts, or am I going to be treading water like this for the next five years as well?!

Any advice or support would be really appreciated as I am getting to the end of my tether!

It’s difficult to give you detailed advice via the forums as we don’t have your full financial details. However you can visit our online debt advice facility called Debt Remedy.

Debt Remedy would assist you in completing a financial statement and you would be provided with tailored advice on the best way to deal with your situation. Click here to go directly to Debt Remedy.

If you would prefer to talk to a debt counsellor about your situation, you can book a telephone based appointment by calling our helpline free on 0800 138 1111. Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process. If you have this information ready it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor if one is available, otherwise we will arrange a time that is convenient for you to be called back for an appointment.

Hi, this is my question for a CCCS advisor,

My GF is on a DMP with CCCS and the amount owed (for one of the creditors) is slightly different (ie more than it is thoughyt to be on CCCS statements). I had previously asked this in this thread link

I noticed this a couple of weeks ago and she went online to arrange for a CCCS advisor to call. She stated that the Wednesday would be a good time to call but CCCS did not call that week but we think they tried to call the following Wednesday but we were out at the time!

Is it likely that they will try to call tomorrow (15th)?

I think that the discrepancy has occured because the creditor is adding interest, and also on the last bill (CC) it wanted an immediate payment (of about £27). Is it correct that if we made a 'one off' payment it can invalidate the DMP as we are not supposed to have any contact with the Creditors? I just wanted to pay off £30 to prevent any additional charges being incurred.

    Thanks for your help

    Hi Dave Trousers,

There is nothing wrong with your girlfriend contacting her creditors while she is on a DMP with us, though this is often not needed. However, we do advise against making payments directly to creditors while on a DMP, as the payments plan should mean that all available money is being paid to creditors through the plan and everything else your girlfriend receives is needed for living costs. By giving creditors extra amounts it is saying that either she can afford to pay more every month or she is using money to pay debts which is needed for living expenses.

The other reason for not paying extra to creditors is that it gives one uncooperative creditor a disproportionate amount of money, and effectively rewards them for not accepting reasonable offers of payments. I know that these additional charges are frustrating and if it is affecting the viability of the DMP then other options can be explored when the plan is reviewed.

If no body called yesterday I would suggest calling us again to arrange a call back.

    Regards

    Matthew
