Ask a CCCS counsellor a question

Hello, I was wondering if someone could offer me some advice. I've been on a reduced payment scheme with the CCCS for a couple of years now. Honestly I can say it was the best thing I could have done, so thank you for all your help so far. However, I was talking to my mum this weekend and she might be able to lend me a small bi of money. So, I was wondering if it would be a good idea for me to contact the various loan/cc companies and offer a full and final settlement figure and see what they say, as it could be a good way of reducing the total amount. However, is this possible when you're already on a reduced payment scheme? Could someone let me know, as I don't want to mess things up.
Thanks ever so much!

Dear Sir/Madam
Re Account No XXXXXXX
Since making that above agreement with you, our circumstances have changed.
We cannot now afford to agreed monthly payments because ... [your paragraph added here]
We enclose a Personal Budget sheet which shows our total income from all sources, and our outgoings.
As you can see we have only £xxx per month left for our creditors.
The offers we have made to our creditors have worked out on a pro−rata basis, and we have written to all our creditors asking them to accept reduced payments.
In view of our circumstances, please would you agree to accept a reduced offer of £xx per month.
If interest or other charges are being added to the account we would be grateful if you would freeze these so that all payments made will reduce what I owe you.
Should our circumstances improve we will contact you again.
We would be grateful if you would send a paying−in book to make it easier to pay you. Thank you for your assistance.
We look forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

Hi,
I'm in Scotland so not sure if you only cover England or not - thought I'd ask anyway.
We moved into a bigger house only 3 months ago thinking we could manage the higher mortgage, council tax etc but it would seem we can't - husband had hid some debt from me so I didn't realise the extent of our debt (or wouldn't have bought the bigger house with bigger mortgage). Does the fact that we have not long bought a house affect our chances of setting up a DAS? (estate agents fees, home reports & lawyers fees are so much that it would cost a lot to downsize again)
Also most of the debt is in husband's name - 3 credit cards totalling £25k plus we have a joint loan of about £12k -I'm not sure how DAS's work - could my husband apply on his own and if so could the joint loan be part of a DAS? If not would we be able to do a joint DAS?
Are DAS's similar to IVA's etc in that any additional money should be declared and paid towards the debt? I would anticipate that our incomings would increase over the period of the DAS (if we were to be successful) - would we be able to increase the amount we paid towards the debt?
Also, I've just recently fallen pregnant - would this affect us getting a DAS?
We're in a right pickle!
Many thanks

Dear CCCS counsellor, please could you help me? I'm not sure what to do now.
I've got
1.credit card @24% interest rate of £2400 balance.
2.Bank draft A. of £700
3. Bank draft B. of £3000
My debit in total now is £6100
As planning my clearing debit, I found there is a late payment record affected my credit score on my credit report, but it's not a late payment, it's a bank charge for interst of £10, and the balance go beyond the credit limite of £8, though I paid it off soon after received the bank letter.
That plus a recent relocation to a new city and new job, my credit scor is only 591, which turn out to be poor,
but this is really a chip on the shoulder, as in my 4 years of credit card history, I never paid late for anything.
I looked into my credit score after rejected by Virgin Media credit card in Febuary, but there is a problem which is, when taking my details online they took my surname in wrong spelling, after received my credit score in April from Experian, I contacted Virgin explained my go beyond overdraft situation, asking if I can appeal. and also mentioned, my name was taken wrongly, they therefore corrected my details in their database, but I really don't understand why, I received another refual letter from them, with my correct name on. therefore from my credit report, the Febuary application score search disappeared, and insead there is a April, recent one.
To me, that is really a scream, as I've beening waiting for nealy three month to make another apppliction, but now this date changed, does that mean I have to wait for another three months please?
As there is a student visa rules change, I must show a loan of whole next year's living fee draftly around £7500 to extend a family memeber's student visa, I was planing to show a loan as a balance for a month for visa application, (one month balance of the loan on the account is the requirment of Home Office)and then start to pay off all the credit card, and drafts. But I'm really not sure it the date is OK now,
Currently,my salary per month is £1000
If I need this loan by 10th June, where should I start, could anybody give me some ideas pleeeeeeease? It's really urgent, and I'm feeling so stuck.
Thank you very much,everyone.
Looking forward to hearing from you

Hi, this is my question for a CCCS advisor,
My GF is on a DMP with CCCS and the amount owed (for one of the creditors) is slightly different (ie more than it is thoughyt to be on CCCS statements). I had previously asked this in this thread link
I noticed this a couple of weeks ago and she went online to arrange for a CCCS advisor to call. She stated that the Wednesday would be a good time to call but CCCS did not call that week but we think they tried to call the following Wednesday but we were out at the time!
Is it likely that they will try to call tomorrow (15th)?
I think that the discrepancy has occured because the creditor is adding interest, and also on the last bill (CC) it wanted an immediate payment (of about £27). Is it correct that if we made a 'one off' payment it can invalidate the DMP as we are not supposed to have any contact with the Creditors? I just wanted to pay off £30 to prevent any additional charges being incurred.
Thanks for your help.....0 -
Hi there
I need some advice.
I am £15K in debt, and am just about keeping my head above water. I am meeting repayments and have cut back on everything i can think of in order to save money. After bills, rent, repayments, travel and food costs, my monthly expendable income is about £80 which is not enough to make any substantial changes to the amount of money I owe. I want to be able to save and clear my debts, but I cannot at the moment. It has been like this for the last five years.
I am working hard to earn my money but my debts are now affecting my health and outlook on life: they feel unsurmountable and I am generally anxious and stressed about my financial position. I have made any number of sacrifices and/or compromises to my quality of life because of my debt though I feel like I am not getting anywhere.
Is there anything I can do to ease the situation and reduce my debts, or am I going to be treading water like this for the next five years as well?!
Any advice or support would be really appreciated as I am getting to the end of my tether!

Dear Experts,
I'm on income support with long term disability - with no savings.
I've run up electricity and gas combined debt of £500 since January this year.
I phoned them and they were very patient - and explained I could repay it if they came and installed a gas and electricity meter which they would set so that it recovered £10 a week to repay the debt, and I have to give a lump sum just now, though they didn't say how much.
The alternative of paying 1/4 of the debt and £125 per month is too expensive.
The only other thing I thought of was a Budgeting loan for £300 - but not guaranteed I will get this.
Should I go ahead with the meter installation - it seems too good to be true.
Thanks in advance for your advice.0 -
Hi been reading earlier posts. Someone mentions charging orders coming into force this month - is that right? I'm really worried - don't want to loose my house. I've set up my debt management plan and will make my first payment on May 1st.
I've had just one letter since I sent off my documents to CCCS 4 weeks ago - that stated that one of my creditors had refused the offer. This doesn't worry me too much as it's a small debt of £200, so I can deal with that seperately.
I just wanted to know, how will I know if my other creditors have accepted the DM plan? Do I assume no news is good news?
This is the best I've felt in ages in terms of my debt - finally feel a bit more in control! Thank you!0 -
My husband has got himself in debt I’m contacting CCCS tomorrow. My question is my husbands wage is going to go into my bank account which means any direct debts will not get paid and will get more charges and takes his overdraft deeper into debt. Should I put money into his account to cover the DD if I do that will put me overdrawn on my account.
Ps DD are due 17th this month0
