Have a read of this - http://cgi3.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewUserPage&userid=disneyvero
(You would have thought that it would have been spellchecked prior to being published though!!)
thanks for that link, thats the exact same set i am trying to sell!
Why are some getting away with selling it, but not others?0 -
Hmmm, theirs were removed for being region 1 dvds, mine are region-free?0
-
Region free?
Are you positive?
Region free usually means fake!My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Therein lies your problem!!
On the link to the Disney Vero page, it does say that they can be resold privately in the region they were released in.
Region Free means it was released for international use, generally ships, oil rigs, promotional reasons amongst a few others. Although you may have bought the DVD in good faith from a retailer, possibly even a high street outlet, they were not supposed to sell it to you, and may have been mis-sold it by their distributor.
"Region Free" also appears on a lot of bootleg DVD's from the far east as well.
To be honest, I would not bother relisting it as it's obvious you are on the radar, but if somebody else were to sell it, it's not unknown for the "genuine" region free discs to be sold as Region 2...
Back to other point on the typos in the Disney Vero page, most of the Vero pages are set up by third party enforcement agencies at the request of the copyright owner, or after they have approached the copyright owner offering their services. There are loads of them around as well - http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vero/monitoring-agents-list.html
If ever anyone gets a letter from WebSheriff or Cerberus Investigations, get professional legal advice quick. These two really do not mess around.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I actually bought the set from ebay a few months ago. How can you tell what region they are? All I have is a wee symbol that says FREE thats inside a globe? No other reference to a region at all on the box or DVDs themselves0
-
The globe symbol is pretty much the only way for the untrained eye, although if it says NTSC encoding, this indicates it is for the international market, as the UK and Europe predominantly use PAL and/or Secam encoding. It's techy stuff to do with how images are displayed on a screen!
Besides that, some fakes are VERY good quality - and are mass produced on factory lines of similar technical standard to the genuine article. To the trained eye, the small print on DVD cases often does not match up though - UK distributors being creditted with the licencing when they do not work for that film company for example. The general "man on the street" would never pick up on that, but someone who has sold 15-20,000+ DVDs in the last few years would pick up on it.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
Thanks for that. It does also say NTSC on it.
Anyway for me to tell if mine are fake? Anything for me to look at? It all looks fine to me, but as you say, I probably wouldnt know!0 -
Without going through all the text on the packaging it's impossible to tell whether it is a "genuine" region 0, or a "fake" DVD branded as a region 0.
The quality of the printing or labelling may be a clue - if colours run, or printing does not quite line up, even the quality of the paper used in inserts can indicate whether it is legit or a good quality copy.
Nothing is ever simple these days is it!?!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -
I think this is happenening to lots of people selling all sorts of named/branded items. Wouldn't let me list 3 different things last week (totally authentic of which i've sold in the past with no problems) - emailed ebay and got the usual parrot fashion response. Seems though is you have 0 feedback then you can list these particular brands!! I also noticed that a particular hair product I used to purchase from private sellers barely gets listed these days - I presume for the same reasons. Loads of business sellers selling it BIN but hardly results in a bargain and the whole bidding spirit of ebay.0

Bargains do not earn as much revenue for eBay...<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0
