Monday 20/10/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.

Today I will:
  • Clicks
  • check online banking
  • storecupboard lunch and tea
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • go for swim and jacuzzi to use gym membership
  • finish sorting out the xmas pressie stash
  • not use car
  • try and have a no spend day
Good morning guys, it is blowing a gale here this morning, very wintery. Today I m wearing green and black stripey socks under my sensible work gear:D not very elf like though more wicked witch like:rotfl: . Lots of boring office work to get stuck into this morning:rolleyes: but will try and catch up with everyone at lunchtime. Have a good day everyone:D

  • Good morning all! Wearing socks with my name on today - in case I forget who I am!:rotfl:I like them as they have a description of my name: "fair and loving" - not sure how fair and loving I will feel by lunchtime tho!

    • Go to work
    • Take packed lunch
    • Charge phone up at work
    • Plan this week's appointments with petrol consumption in mind

Good morning MrsA:D Welcome to the sock revolution:D

  • Very little if I'm honest!

    Will walk back to the car tonight which takes about 30mins but allows me to save £1.10 in buses;
    Will check for piggy points later;
    Will buy some ultra cheap throat lozenges today out of B & M rather than the more expensive ones out of the local chemists;

    That's it.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

Now I feel totally inadequate :( I'm wearing grey wooly socks, and this week they'll even match.;) But I'm not going to let you tempt me into the frivolous purchase of FUN socks :money: I'll just admire the view from here

    Morning All :hello:
I'm going to scramble some of the weekends MSE stuff into here, as I only read at the weekend and didn't post. This thread keeps me on track, but I'm considering resurrecting (sp?) my diary as another MSE tool......

    So today I have/will
    • went to Wyevale as suggested by Mum of 4 and bought LOADS of seeds for the veg plot at 10p a go :D They're out of date, but gardening for me is a gamble anyway- I spent 90p  :rotfl:
    • Dug over about 1/10 of the plot and got some dolly-sized vegetables 1 parsnip, 1 carrot and 2 marble sized potatoes. I'm tempted to make Popeye a vegetable soup with my "harvest" for when he returns :rotfl:
    • Almost all my Christmas shopping is done (smug smilie here) apart from my family. And we've never taken Christmas seriously, so I should be able to pick up the remainder of the presents using all my coupons and tokens I've saved :D or make them
    • I've filled the freezer with crumbles, pies, cakes and prepared apples and still the trees seem to be full. I shall make apple brandy with some as Christmas presents.
    • charging phone at work
    • brought in HM soup, with HM bread and HM apple cake for lunch. :D (I'm turning into my mother  :rotfl: )
    • store cupboard/freezer forage for supper.
    • a NSD - I would have 3-4 of these a week if the chocolate vending machine didn't tempt me. :o
    • And I've been to the gym so often these last 3 weeks (a fun mystery shop) and I'm going to cram in some more until my membership expires at the end of the month.
    • keep looking for more MS's.
    • update my signature
    • And I've listed ONE thing on e-bay :D So no excuse, I'll list some more tonight.
  • Morning all - looking down, matching blue fluffy semi sparkly socks - (sensible as are a pair but fluffy and cosy) - glad to see some sock revolutionists about.

On todays agenda, finish section of writing, yeah I know long time overdue
    Tax car - see above
Write letter to bank - again long over due
(Ihave great plans for weekends but never seem to do anything)
Kids off school, so try and stay sane
Checked bank - almost over limit but not quite
    Cupboard tea, lunch etc
Did before work job then came home at 9am
Organise young folk (well they are on hols) to perhaps move some logs around the garden......
Feed chookies and encourage them to lay some nice eggs

Feeling a bit upside down? Overwhelmed, I just get on top of things then life seems to put something else in the way - be ok though I think just lots to do and am the queen of displacement....have a fun day - our visitors are away and so hopefully its life back to normal.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
    :money:Sleeves up folks.:money:
  • Can't even say it is a bright sunny morning. I am off to find some socks in a minute.

Today I have checked online banking
    Checked items selling on ebay
Packed item sold on ebay, will post later
List a few more items on ebay
    Dinner will be from storecupboard
Get diary and plan week. If i don't write everything down I get easily distracted:o
I will go visit the flylady thread
Then I will try and motivate ds to get on with some work.:rotfl:

    Will be back later:D

My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly

Morning - its cold wet and windy in manchester!
Sorry to say I'm not wearing any socks - have a suit and new favourite shoes on - but the shoes do have different colour bits of suede on them - does that count??

    Anyway, today I have/will....

    Go to work
Bring lunch with me - bagel and fruit (BOGOF bagels from Mr T so sort of a bargain too!)
Checked banks - looks strangely OK - must have forgotten something:confused:
    Paid amex
    Done expenses
Cook tea from fresh stuff in fridge to use it up
    Walk dog for free exercise
Done budgeting for next 3 weeks til payday
Filled up car at 99.9p petrol station (only to hear that Morrisons are dropping theirs to 97.9p - typical!)

Nothing much else planned for today - I hate Mondays!
Looking forward to double Corrie later - the only thing that'll keep me going today!

    Have a good day
