It might sound silly, but have you tried logging in without entering a password? If you don't set a an admin password you can login with just the admin name and no password.

yes i have tried that. its not actually the page with all user accounts on that is coming up. the blue box comes up before you get to that.my son had put the dongle out of my pc into his and then messed about trying to set up a network or something. i dont know what he has done but the problem only occurred after he had been messing

Sounds like time for a System Restore - and the ritual disembowelling of your son

right i have googled my problem and come across someone else who has done the same.below is what he must have done.

#Whilst trying to set up a wireless connection on my PC, i inadvertently set up a network with my PC. not knowing what i had done.
I used the 'Network Connections' wizard in the control panel #

after doing this when my son restarted pc the blue login box came up. the guy with the above problem sorted his issue by leaving password box blank. however i have tried this and it didnt work.
i cant get int pc at all to do anything. is it a lost cause. i cant believe he has done this. KIDS:mad:

Ok, when the login dialog box appears, type in the username Administrator and leave the password blank, hit enter and you should get straight in, when you have done this, post back.

Have you tried booting from CD? It's quite normal for PCs to have Boot from CD as Default. Just make sure that you hit Enter when the option appears during boot up.

Follow Proliant's advice first if you hadn't already done so.

    If that fails, follow mine.

Did you try the username Administrator with a blank password?
