House !!!!!! to do up my house for me?

Ok, here is the picture. We've been in our house here 10 years now, and quite happy. When we moved in, the house was decorated and all that, but we've done very little since then. Young family have grown up and dilapidated the place much faster than we could improve it, and we've accumulated a skip-full of clutter.

Now, what I want is one of those TV companies to come in and spruce the place up for us. Then, we'll look suitably chastened when nobody buys it on the open day, and suitably elated when told that one or two couples were definitely slightly interested. TV company has another episode in the can. The viewers can ogle our house and wonder how we let it get so shabby. We have a load of new carpets and decorations. Win-win, all round!

So, which TV company should we favour for this?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

you need to check out the appropriate television networks websites - they are always looking for volunteers.
like a mortgage application, if you tick all the right boxes you may get what you want...

    best of luck to you.

Think you'll find most these progs, are now shelved - showing re-runs of Property Ladder makes cheap entertainment, other make over shows, more than a chance these are all exhausted, too.

Check the listings, then the website of the show/channel & ....mailk them.

    Just in case!

But do you REALLY want the house tarted up, in a short space of time, rather than done properly!!??

That Kristian Digby on Open House is looking increasingly desparate, like a banker who took out a 125% NR mortgage in 2007 on a city centre new-build flat.
    Been away for a while.

A house in the next close to us had the 60 minute makeover people in last year. I went to out at 8am and there were white vans literally everywhere. Came home at 12pm, still all there plus signs everywhere saying 'filming'. Came home with the children at 4pm and still there - along with the filming signs. We saw the last of the vans drive past at 8.30pm.

When we saw the programme on TV, they had done awful things like painted over the wallpaper, painted over fixtures. I'd go mad if I came home and DH had had people in to do that. Plus over 12 hours to paint over the wallpaper?

The only programme that ever did a proper job was that DIY SOS. The rest were bodge artists of the lowest order.

I miss changing rooms. Not only was the 'decorating' terrible, but you would never speak to those friends again :D
  • ah, but that show needed someone with a teminal disease, or missing limbs to be 'worthy' of attention..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I miss changing rooms too, would like a new series, with so many unable to move, perhaps this will make a come back.
