Hi Ladies!! First posting so be gentle!!
After trawling through the 77 pages of discussion regarding Landy and Milly bridal I have decided to email Milly (and in a minute Landy) with pics of a dress I have fallen inlove with to find out if they can make it for me.
I have a couple of questions...
I have 7 months until the wedding and plan to drop a dress size or two. What should I do about measurements - do i get the dress to fit what i am now and if so, how much can a seamstress alter a dress size. Or should I get the dress made at the size below ?
Would it be totally ridiculous to order two dresses? I really am struggling between a Sassi Holford dress "Hayley" and Casablanca dress "1971"!
Lastly, would anyone recommend Landy over Milly or vice versa?

YOU CANNOT COMPETE WITH OFFSHORE STORES SUCH AS LANDY OR MILLY!!!!!
They offer such good rates which is why so many use them. Many ladies don't give a rats A** about quality because (and please excuse me for saying this) they aren't really in the know. They get the dress of their dreams for a fraction of the price. Offshore stores have little or no overheads.
Many ladies also don't have the original to put side by side of the replica. They simply fall in love with "their" dress when it arrives.
I have no overheads at all as I work from home, but I make each gown from start to finish. I order fabric, select patters, cut the fabric, stitch the fabric and do all of the bead work/finishing myself. I don't have the "production factory line" that the chinese do. I can't even compete with the chinese. I have to offer something different and mine is about the product, the cost and the service (I believe) I have excellent aftersales service and would bend over backwards if (heaven help me) something wasn't right. I wouldn't rely on the T&C stating that a custom made dress won't be put right if there is a problem. As an independant, I have a reputation to uphold. I would move heaven and earth for a client. Even if that meant putting something right I did not make! The wedding business is about happy clients wherever they purchase their gown from!
Linda - what an amazing comment
I can honestly say i have met Linda when i turned up at her house distraught coz my wedding dress didnt fit due to weight loss - she was amazing so helpful and very nice i left feeling better about the whole situatuion and cant wait to take my dress back to be altered.
I found Linda's advice so nice and honest at the same time ( i cant loose much more weight otherwise its unfixable) that im now gonna get Linda to make all my bridesmaids dresses as well as alterations to my own. She really does know what she is on about !have the best little boy in the world :j

Hi, I got engaged in November with a wedding date of 5th February 2011. I have been very impressed with the quality of some of the dresses I have seen on here and am very tempted to go for it. The only question I have is that my chosen dress (Concord by Blue at Enzoani at a staggering 2000 pound) cannot be found on their website and is not a typical "bridal" style with a mermaid tail (???). How are they at creating dresses in the same style as a picture and how are they with non traditional style wedding dresses?
thank you0 -
Oooooh SVJenni, that is fantastic, you look stunning in it :T I haven't read the whole thread (also not getting married (hubby might object!) - just nosey!), can I be rude and ask how much the dress cost - just roughly if you don't want to say? It looks incredible.Piglet

thanks for your lovely comments girls
Tashandy only you can make that choice - They are both very good Milly gives you photos of your dress being made so you have some creative control but they are usually more expensive. the best thing to do is contact them both for prices and see which one you like best
I went for Landy as alot of girl on here got their dress from there and i liked the pics, plus they were a good deal cheaperHad a thrifty wedding 17-06-10

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knew if landy still sold maggie sorretto dresses? I wanted to buy the 'amy' dress, but it doesn't seem to be on her website anymore and it was my perfect dress!
Thanks for any help0
