Crazyangel......as an immigrant to this country, I actually applaude you for being 'honest' on your visa application - however small the incident may have been.......you have just been really unlucky with whoever processed your application. I would appeal and reapply but do it via an immigration specialist.....it may cost you but depends how badly you want it.....good luck

why did you bother to tell them? there is nothing on your pp to indicate that you were involved 19 yrs ago, they would have never known. the only way you can enter the states is thru Canada, but this can be tricky if you are caught, although i have friends who do this regulary.
To avoid problems later if it comes out for any reason!

I had a minor conviction from 1999 and went to the states in 2001, I applied and had a visa granted, took a while but like the OP I wanted to be honest and didn't want anything biting me on the !!! later.

Although now years later I realise I could of probably just not said anything and got away with. Still I am glad I was honest. Hope it works out.

Its a fiugure of speech - i know you know that. Akin to doing himself from behind....

that's the kind of skill that would get the OP a fast pass into the US. he could tour with david blane.

I have nothing positive to add to this, sorry

To the OP, you will probably be let in without further incident. I know some other folks with minor convictions who work able to secure visas.

I would however, not recommend getting in through Canada. The border regulations are being strengthened this coming year, even for Americans, and the penalties if you're caught can be *very* strict. (like jail time).

Crazyangel, I know the horse has already bolted but it might have been a good idea to ask on here first before declaring to the U.S. authorities about a spent conviction.

I'm sure that's well-meaning, but honestly I can't think of a worse idea than to ask a bunch of unpaid, untrained, irresponsible*, anonymous posters for immigration advice. Particularly when the country in question is the USA.

Don't Worry About A Thing. I Have A Conviction For Fighting 7 Years Ago (was Jailed). I Had To Go To American Embassy In Belfast. On The List Of Crimes That I Commited When I Was Young Were Several Worse Than Shoplifting (criminal Damage, Threatening Behaviour, Assault Etc). Fortunately I Have Learned The Error Of My Ways Now And I Am A Respectable Family Man And Business Owner. However, 11 Months Ago I Wanted To Go To Vegas And Even Showed Them The Ticket For The Boxing Match I Was Going For. My Interview At The Embasy Went Ok, And Then I Received A Waiver 4 Weeks Later. While Speaking To Friends And Colleauges Who I Met In Vegas There Were People Who Had Commited Far Worse Crimes Against 'moral Turpitude'.

Serious, Stop Worrying Now! All Will Be Perfect!! Go And Buy Your Cozzy!

    Have A Great Trip.

The reason I did tell them was because i have a fiancee in california and we are going to apply for the fiancee visa after xmas for me to go and live there and then it could have been held against me for not declaring my convictions ,i never told the immigration this incase if could jeapodise myself even more and they could think i may not return to the UK after my visit.

But i was always told that there is going to be new border controls before stepping on the plane in the uk where they can check for convictions .

In that case, you were sensible. The documentation that is required for an immigrant visa would have turned up evidence of your conviction, and had it become apparent that you had "forgotten" about it when visiting the USA, everything would have become a lot more difficult.

However, there are many places more attractive than the USA. Invite your partner to live in Europe instead.
  • 'With a name like nobjoki and you commenting on Hatton's backside in just one sentence (Yes, it's all one sentence, which should be seperated by a comma after the the word 'letter' you imbacile), it's clear to me what sort of a person you are, and you only have one thing on your mind. You're obviously bent (which means you're sick in the head), so I won't take offence at your ridiculous comments. If you PM me, I may even try to assist you and offer you some advice and guidance on where you can get help for your filthy illness.'

One might think, that if you jump to such a conclusion about anyone who criticises you, that perhaps you spent a little too long in the prison shower with Whisperin' Billy.

And that single statement single handedly rubbishes this entire site. Hundreds of thousands of posts all diminished to nothing in a couple of sentences.

It is a ridiculous statement. The whole ethos of this forum is to help and advise. Usually this is done via experience or well placed people who have access and/or knowledge of the situation or at least what direction to point the person in.

Nobjoki, or should it be Knob head? What a moron you are. You only wrote 2 lines and it was filled with inacurracies! .

Firstly, It wasn't me who typed every word with a capital letter. I originally wrote my post on a computer that is broken (caps lock key jammed on), and one of the moderators obviously altered my text.

    Secondly, thicko

during my time in the chokey (7 years ago) how could I learn that Hitman Hatton got dumped on his thick Northern backside when the fight only took place last year? It seems that the word thick should be applied to you!

With a name like nobjoki and you commenting on Hatton's backside in just one sentence (Yes, it's all one sentence, which should be seperated by a comma after the the word 'letter' you imbacile), it's clear to me what sort of a person you are, and you only have one thing on your mind. Hi Billy Boy:

Let's start at the top - the username is Nobjocki and not Nobjoki.
Unfortunately in your rant at my stupidity you forgot to notice that inaccuracies, separated and imbecile are all spelled incorrectly - you might wish to enable your Spellchecker.
Perhaps you might investigate a sense of humour as well.
