Rach I like that, looks useful. I like bags that are useful, don't care about names etc. I like bags with a removable parts which can be used for situations like that.

Kaz I bet you're disappointed with your DD, it looked wonderful last time you did it and she's trashed it again? Hope she pulls her weight helping you sort it.

AnW'sMum I am still hoping to get down in November, it all depends if DPs friend manages to get a place, I'm being awful hoping that he doesn't :o I can split the fuel costs 3 ways then, makes it doable.

Denise I think thats a pygmy marmoset! Tiny itsy bitsy monkeys! I've heard 'peg monkey' being used about bmx riders....but it's also used in motorbiking culture (more USA than here I think) for those who are always scraping pegs.

Chunky, I bet you were relieved. If the weather in Scotland is like or close to what it's like here I can well believe it, my caravans cliff side location is a bit scary at the mo.

Pollybear I haddn't heard about the offer so thanks for letting us know, however after my bulb discovery :o last week, I have resisted and just let others know.

greenbee my friend is like you and prefers everything more natural and hair colours cost her a fortune! I think it's a Daniel Field one they use, costs about £70 a time I think. My fixed tariff is due up at the end of Nov and I am looking at a large increase I think so might just be getting in touch if you don't mind helping :)

Dusty, sounds like the cheekiness is to get attention, ignore ignore and ignore more is the only way to remove it if it is. Praising him loads (even going OTT if that's what he likes) when he's good. Hard work however ignoring cheeky stuff, I hate it myself.

    Msgnomey welcome :)

DP couldn't get home to sort the dogs out so I have had to come home, made the kids teas while I am here, clean bed sheets DS2 soaked and their swimming stuff etc aswell. Pleased I did as I have caught him out, we don't have a thermostat in the house just on the boiler, I NEVER have it above 3, usually around 1.5 max, come home and the empty house (apart from the dogs) is absolutely boiling hot, he's only whacked it on 6 (almost full, hot enough to burn your hands!) and left it on. I yelled at him down the phone saying if I can't trust him to be sensible I'd have to stay home when he was in future as I can't afford a sky high gas bill. I feel a little bad for how I went mad with him but he's just got no idea! He'll have been wandering round in just a pair of shorts thinking he was in the bahamas again. Grrrr...

DS2 probably going to have a bruised face tomorrow as he walked into the lifeguards elbow as the lifeguard was sweeping water away, daft child never looks where he's going, lots of blood too which restarted when we got home so part pleased we're at home. Poor lifeguard felt guilty but like I said DS2 was the one walking forwards and should have looked where he was going.

Oh DS2s in a strop, because all the 'makey stuff' is girls stuff, like the cupcake maker etc. He loves making things out of anything inc food, playdoh, paper, junk etc etc but so much of it's aimed at girls. He's looking for what he wants for Christmas, he likes Gardening, Cooking, Making Stuff and nearly all of the stuff to do that is aimed at girls!

Right must empty washing machine and pack more clothes we need for this week....
One day I might be more organised...........

  • I'm back.....

Some lovely person had turned the modem off!!! I just assumed we'd lost connection like before!!! Blinking 'eck!!!!!!! All last night, and all day today!

I only checked it because I was about to phone Virgin Media about it, and if I'm honest, get shirty about wanting 3 days refunded because that's how much internet access I've lost this month!!!

    *coughs shamefaced*

Anyhoo.... it's been a quiet day in the Shattered household. DD1 has done her chores and then been out with her friend for the afternoon. DH took DD2 & 3 to Sainsburys while I had a 2 hour bath!!!! Marvellous!

Lamb and spinach curry with keema peas cooking nicely. We'll all have that when DD1 & 2 are back from gymnastics later. OOO X-Factor!

And I do believe an early night is in order for me tonight. Been burning the candle at both ends this week.

    Toots where are you babes?????

    All I get is a blank screen:mad:

    Any way

IT HAS ALL BEEN DONE! every room I normally do plus dips into DS's and DD's room - DS had a bit of dusting done plus the window sill wiped - well I say bit of dusting - I mean severe dust bunny gathering with a damp bit of old towel! And a thorough vacuuming of the carpet. I have done a maiden full of ironing too...it is now airing nicely. (One duster on there and two tea towels:rolleyes: )

I even hoovered out the light shades in the dining room - because the shades are too small to get my hand in and I have to unscrew the bulb and then a fiddly holder to get the dead flies out - there's always 1! Some of you might find this funny in a schadenfreude sort of way...
Unfortunately I had the little strong vacuum down so I thought I would use that ... this has turned out to be an expensive mistake as it sucked 2 of the 3 bulbs off their screw bits so I had to pull them out then get the pliers and remove the edison screw caps but having read Flower's shocking story I turned off the leccy and did it by torchlight just to be on the safe side (I keep a torch in my handbag...) and I only have one spare bulb...ho hum...the best laid plans of mice and flyladies...talking of mice I wonder how Vanilla is!

Well volunteered!! I'm between Basingstoke/Newbury/Winchester, and all roads lead away from Basingstoke (not unreasonable really ;) ) so can get to most places fairly easily.

I could do Winchester or Southampton way or Basingstoke at a push - wouldn't want to have to travel much further

Well done Clan Triker...like your taste in music ...I've had Stranglers along with other 80s stuff like Relax, ABC...

I must admit even being in my late teens/early 20s in the 80s I didn't like 80s music. Hated going to nightclubs - I always preferred a quiet night in with a book or taking myself off to the theatre.
Ohhh, my kind of music, I love Ian Dury and the Stranglers.... brings back my punk days (well, baby punk, I was only one for a while when I was 15 and never had the pink spiky hair!)

Round about the time punk came in there was a rock 'n' roll revival, and I preferred that music much more. Before then I'd been a huge fan of the Osmonds (Donny in particular) and the Bay City Rollers :D
Hope this isn't TMI, but anyone any ideas how to get af.gif out of the mattress? I scrub & bleach but is there an easier way?

Don't know if it's too much information or not. What does af.gif mean?

Not done any flying today. Had patchwork this morning, then met up with DH and children in town as DH was going up to a friend's house to watch the rugby (Natal and Transvaal playing I think). Only hope he comes back in a better mood. About 90% of what comes out of his mouth is complaints and I'm sick of it. He hates living in the UK, so I've told him to look for a job back in SA when he's over there next year. I bet he won't find one which will pay enough to live on, medical aid, schooling, etc.

Haven't a clue what to do for dinner tonight.

My parents, sister, BIL and their two children are coming over in the morning. This afternoon's boat was cancelled so their boat is at 1.30am, so I expect them to come knocking at about 6am  No lie-in for me then

DiLs parents have been and gone. They even bought me a bottle of wine for some reason! It was me supposed to be thanking them for doing the shower! They've insisted that if I need anything doing (like new showers etc.) then I must let DiL's pa know - he'd be more than happy to help.

So they've somehow managed to get me to agree to let him sort out the kitchen main light. It's a horrible strip light thing (I really must have been in a dippy dappy phase when I got that put up when the extension was built!). So he says if I get a bar with some spots on it, he'll not only put it up but will re-artex the bits that will need doing. I guess I must start not being so ornery and independant and learn to accept favours with graciousness.

DS has just informed me he's going out at 7.30 so could I do him a quick dinner. :rolleyes:I was planning on doing a nice stew but I've shoved a pizza in the oven for him instead. Don't know what I'll have now - I'll root around the freezer shortly. DiL is out and won't need feeding. I shall do the stew on Monday probably instead.

I am now getting myself on the outside of a nice G&T so cheers!
