DD who works in tesco says policy for an overcharge based on SEL is double the difference but if it's a cashier error then you just get back whatever the error was.0

How come nobody has mentioned Morrisons? They always seem to overcharge/ miss deals on the receipts. (my worst was £17.00 overcharge on a £60.00 shop.)
And cs staff are miserable, probably because they are so busy and don't offer any compensation. As a customer you have to queue up just to get the money back that you have been overcharged.0 -

If it wasn't in walking distance and quite handy I wouldn't go there.
Does Asda give you £2.00 for a mistake?

Hi I was in Sainsbury's in Braehead a few days ago. We hit it lucky and the girl with the golden gun was putting out a bunch of stuff that was discounted. I waited patiently around the corner and then went back and thought it was my lucky day. We hurried through the check outs, myself and my 2 disabled friends with our eye on the clock to catch the bus back to Largs. When the sales clerk told me the total I had a bit of a shock because I do the same as a lot of Martin's shoppers and add things up mentally in my head rounding up and down as I go. I checked my bill and I was charged £25.60 and I had added it up not to be over £20.00. I looked at my bill and I was overcharged on 4 seperate accounts and it was nearly £6.00 of overcharges. Boy oh boy some days it is just not fair. We missed our bus back to Largs and had to wait another hour but I could not afford to lose the £6.00. My friends were quite paranoid because they never check their receipts. Taffy0

Totally agree with what has been said.0 -
Hi What do you mean you get £2.00 and the overcharge. I have been overcharged lots of times in Asda and I have mentioned is there anything like the double the difference or anything else and they always say "no unfortunately".
Does Asda give you £2.00 for a mistake?
Thanks Taffy
If you are overcharged you should get the difference back and a £2 gift card for every item you were overcharged for.
More often than not you need to 'remind' them - many of the staff don't even seem aware of it. Any hassle and ask to speak to the manager - they should know their own policy.

Yes, this is an issue with these reduction tickets specially - where they stick them over the original barcode. You can go back later and tell them and they will correct it - though you have to bring the item back - ensure its empty and mouldy.
I check every item going past - look at the till display as the price comes up, as its scanned, and you can stop them as they go if there is a mistake. Also put any reduced items first, all together, to make checking easier.
Thing is Asda tills don't work like that - they always display the full price on reduced items and only at the end there is a summary of discounts on the receipt - pain.
I have had items from Tesco wrongly charged - a power adapter at £20 instead of £15 - and I asked for the double the difference and got it. I had 2 of them so that's £20 refund. I had a mind to go back and buy the whole stock up and then come back again.
Also if the shelf price is lower than it should be they will generally sell the item at the shelf price - never seen it with a high value item but I often see items at the wrong price and they honour it as long as you make a point.
The thing is if I left with an item unpaid from any store they would probably treat it as theft. If the store overcharge you really need to contact trading standards and report the store to the head office, get the manager etc. to make a point; maybe they wouldnt be so careless then.
I always wonder when the price is wrong, how many hundreds of people have been overcharged - and do they contact them to give their ££ back (only possible for card payments) - I'm sure they do - I can hear them running up the path now with some cash...0 -
