The Co-op is one of the worst shops for not having the till prices up to date with their current offers. I always have to ask for a till receipt." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

I checked mine yesterday to discover a payment of £13.99 to Pappa Joe's. I'd never actually heard of it but had been buying Christmas bits and bobs so for about 30 seconds I just tried to think about whether it could have been somewhere I'd shopped then I said to my OH "I don't recognise this transaction - it says Pappa Joe's" and he said its a pizza restaurant chain. Turns out the payment was made at a branch in London. I live in South West Wales. Needless to say the card has now been cancelled and Barclays have assured me I'll receive the money back. Its not a huge amount but its mine none the less.0 -
I alway do a rough estimate of what the bill should be. When I used to go shopping with the children there was always a 'treat' for the nearest estimate. They got surprisingly good and still do it now they are all grown up.
I always used to do that with my mum when I went shopping with her as a kid. Guess the total amount and see who was closest. I'm the same now, I know how much everything costs and can work it out to atleast the nearest pound before I get to the till.

ps
I bought item in Lidl expecting to pay about £6. The total came to £47.50. The casher noticed too. I had been charged for a 'folding sliding shelf'. No one in the store knew what that was. They soon cancelled it.
I don't know about you but I have a fairly good memory so can remember prices as I put things in the basket - no price to see I don'tbuy!
When putting them on the belt at checkout I price them all in my head and am usually accurate to within a pound or so.
My daughter who is nearly 15 can't understand why I bother - according to her I should use a calculator!!

Always check at Asda, I get overcharged at least once per week and claim back £2.00 and the overcharge, I never mention it to the cashier if I notice I'm overcharged and go to customer services to get the money back. If it wasn't in walking distance and quite handy I wouldn't go there.:A :

sainsburys get it wrong at least 2 times a month for month we normally go there 3/4 a month (no cheap shops where i live) .
Our local Co-op is a small overpriced one they put the signs out for special offers but not always set up at that price. I have seen them taking down special signs taking off special offer stickers rather than lose money or having to sort it out or update tills. last one was 4.99 prawns but had sticks for special of 1.99. went through tills at 4.99. They were pulling all the stickers off. My friend was overchraged on some cleaner product last week by about 70p she could not be bothered to complain. Not surprised they are very slow and we were using the self service till. I have had to wait 5-10 minutes if i need help in the past.

I was once charged for some clothes in Tesco that I hadn't even bought!!!! (The store didn't even sell clothes!!)
CS checked and explained it that sometimes the scanners only scan half the bar code on a product and it till identifies some other random item!!! So yes always check those receipts!!!0 -

I could have written your post as exactly the same happened to me.
Tesco were unable to give me an answer as they didn't sell clothes even though it was on receipt.
What makes me angry when these errors happen is how many other customers has it happened to, any how many haven't noticed. Tesco never seem quick to rectify their problems.0
