  • Baked beans much nicer than Heinz IMHO

Cannot leave the shop without a couple of packets of Jumbos , similar to Kinder Buerno (sp?) but far superior and melt in your mouth !

    Got a craving now ...... :P

Still loved, still missed and very dear

Oh, don't forget your £1 for your trolley

Does anybody know if you can use 20p for the trolley like at Lidl? :)

Just registered - first post! Great site!!!

Aldi is great for food! Curries (Worldwide), Virgin Olive Oil, Apple Cake Cookies and Steinhauser Beer are my favourites.

Aldi is a German company. In fact, the Aldi family is amongst the richest families in the country (being German myself I happen to know that). Often, they rebrand products, ie. they buy popular brand products and put them into the Aldi brand packaging. Thus, they sell good quality products on the cheap. I guess they probably keep all other costs low, hence they can sell the stuff so cheaply.

  • Aldi...

    good points -

rich tea biscuits - good price, great taste
electrical stuff - always vcheap, and lots of good priced pc offers
beer - strasburg £2.40 i tihnk for 4 cans, really nice stuff. gallhads is ok as well.
wines and spirits - good choice, do aftershock for £6.99 -tastes exactly like the real thing.
orange juice - cheap and pure, 1litre cartons.
apple/pinapple/orange kids cartons - 55p for 3. pure and taste good.

    bad things - -
generally in poor areas and car park safety is a concern.
fruit and veg is rubish quality.
bread and pancakes are poor quality.
    cheese is very poor.

i find with aldi's, they differ greatlly between stores.

while they sell 95% of the same things, the quality of shopping, availabilty, queue waiting times, condition of packaging, choice - differ enormously.

for example 3 stores within 20 miles of each other i visited recently.

first aldi was near a friends home in knotty ash, east prescot road, liverpool.car park securtiy was poor, payout was bad, 1 till open leaving a big queue, choice was limited, generally a poor shop.

later on that day we visited aldi in the kensington, liverpool area. car park was worse, but slightly more choice, better dispalyed, and faster tills.

on the way home stoped at aldi, in birchwood shopping centre, just after warringotn.

lots of choice, lots of ogood carparking, well presented, fast tills, helpful staff, lots of bargains.
    really excellent store.

so if your put of by your first aldi experience, try another store. they do seem to differ alot!

    MSN pop-ups.

Yes, me, that's strange, never had them before. I've got a pop-up stopper but it came up out of the blue.

    Very odd ???

I seem to remember reading sometime back that Kelloggs were in negotiations with Aldi about starting to manufacturer own brand breakfast cereals for them. Don't know if this came to anything.

Oh and stay off my favourite bottle of wine... 'Badgers Creek' :-X. Admittedly I only bought if for the name and boy did I regret it. It gave me (even with an iron gut) heart burn for days.

The best booze is Taurus cider- basically Strongbow :D
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

Their 100 percent frozen burgers are lovely, very meaty. The pesto (red and green) are excellent as are the small jars of stir in pasta sauce. You can get an email of the bargains each week by signig up to the website, same for Lidl.
