Guys and Gals I'm after a little help please (and two bed house renters before you shout at me)

I'm looking to buy a two bed house (FTbuyer) middle to end of next year (seeing as house prices are dropping). But I'm working out my budget now (as in start putting aside what i would pay out now so i can see if i can handle it)

And i was hoping you guys can tell me what you pay a month on Gas and Electric. Now i know it depends on many factors so i will narrow it down abit if that helps

Heating and cooker will be gas....(i like to cook with gas)

The rest electric

And I'll add I'm single so won't (or shouldn't) use as much as a couple

Its just so i can get an average

And no I don't currently pay gas and electric (i'm living in Forces Accom) hence why I'm asking

Thanks

I pay £115:eek: a month by direct debit, but this is for myself and 2 children. This is based on last years usage, this year with all the increases I am working hard to get the cost right down

  • our dd is set at £32 per month for each and we don't have the heating on much but we do have some elec in use all day and have electric for all our cooking.

we are quite lucky that we are south west facing so get a lot of sun in the afternoon which really does help to keep the place warm

  • I pay £50 a month for gas and electric, just me (and two cats) and I work full time. My cooker is electric though rather than gas.

As I'm on an old fixed tariff my amounts won't mean much, but I can give you my kWh for the last year - Ele 2832; Gas 17604.
The 'average' for single rate ele is 3300 and for gas 20500.

You could try figures along these lines in comparison sites to see what you get.

Why is that? You will require the same heat and nearly the same light, almost as much cooking, less washing.

[BTW, monthly direct debits can be very misleading for making your comparison, as the utilities like to set these too high and will recover the shortfall of a year in 3 or 4 months if they think they can get away with it]
