My partner is about to be made redundant next month. I only work part time (22.5hrs a week). We have a 1 year old child. I am very concerned how we will pay the rent. I was told by the Benefits Agencies that they will always assess you for contributions based JSA before the means tested one. I can see them prefering people to be on Contributions based as it doesn't open the door to any other benefits, as it's not means tested itself.
