Oak kitchen with black plinths

Great!! Thanks a lot everyone it still seems very bold but you all seem to think its a good idea so I'm gunna be brave!0

Yes, be brave. This is how our kitchen was, Oak doors, black worktops, black plinths, and we LOVED it. (So did the woman who bought our house!)0
-
If you really did hate it, at least you would only have to change the plinths. The expense of that compared to changing the worktops or the floor would be far less.0

I'm a bit surprised that people think it's 'bold'! I'm also a bit concerned - would they think you were wacky for having black plinth?

I think it's a realy good idea, especially as I remember you wanted a wood floor as it will form a break in the colour. It's pretty understated, IMHO so I'm glad you're doing it.
I have applewood units and we've used black plinth and black granite worktops and even gone as far as a black end panel and a black floor, shock horror! Noe that is a statement but I want my kitchen different to other peoples
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thanks Doozergirl
No it's not really that bold but for me its a break from the boring norm that I normally bow to. I did mention the black end panels as I like the way it frames the units but Mrs MAM would not have it. 0 -
They're great - unobtrusive they effectively tone with the worktop while not drawing attention to themselves - my only concern would be whether in the long run they will show marks more than wood would?
Disco plinth lights will just set them off perfectly - sorry couldn't resist
