Lapland New Forest Scam. How to get money back...

Hi there - does anyone know if you can make a claim for a refund if you have paid by debit card which is not a visa debit? The charge back scheme for debit cards seems to only be for visa and I paid £100 using a maestro debit. I am unsure where I stand with this.0

Now I know they're lying !!
And I quote :
Our real Reindeer will be arriving Sunday 7th December together with THE Elvis and real huskies.
Surely they can be reported to Trading Standards for..... oh, hang on.... I may have misread that.....0 -
A council source said: “We are asking PayPal to freeze money coming out of people’s accounts.”
A bit late we did that hours ago.Several of the same companies who did contract work at Lapland New Forest are either involved at Laplands West Midlands or were approached.
ummmm......

Have been reading about the terrible experiences everyone has had at the so called lapland new forest. I too had bought tickets to visit this sunday,7th dec and am so pleased it has now closed,i was totally dreading taking my family.I've been onto my credit card company and they too know all the problems and are going to refund my card, firstly by trying to re-claim the money from the people who own the business and if not i'm protected under the comsumer act.. thank god !! I was really looking forward to a real christmasy treat and now it's all been ruined.. well done to alton towers for offering 'lapland' letdowns a free day up there. Not sure how many people will be able to travel that far.Good luck to all in reclaiming their rightful money back.May this never happen again!!:mad:0

@ megspinkgiraffe - you may have to hang fire for a while as I read earlier in the thread that Trading Standards/East Dorset Council were contemplating legal action against Lapland New Forest Ltd with the intention, I believe, of getting refunds to all customers to whom the details of the service paid for were misrepresented.Hello everyone,
My wife has just received a call from M&S Credit Card Services, informing her that the money will not be refunded as we had visited the "attraction ", and therefore received the "service".
We are incensed, as I'm sure many others will be.
M&S siding with a convicted fraudster - I never thought I'd see the day.....
Advice please!
Me - do you recall the scene in Planes Trains and Automobiles with Steve Martin speaking to the lady at the car hire desk. That's how I'd have responded - but I get easily angered by people who are clueless.
M&S Card Services - know their legal responsibilities I presume ?
Did they offer you referral to their disputes service or complaints procedure ?
I am seething with rage and venom that any company purporting to offer any kind of service can behave that way.
The basis of your repudiation of the charge on your card is that the service provided to you by the vendor was misrepresented, and if M & S read a newspaper The Times perhaps or even the Daily Mail - surely then the Sun - and even the Star. Point out that people in New Zealand and California are aware of the misrepresentation and impending legal action against the company and they, in their cosey egg shell are totally oblivious.
They can refund your charge or send you their complaints procedure - to parody Julius Caesar - you went - you saw - you threw up - and don't need to have done more, but if they require proof you can provide news stories in any lnguage on planet earth if that would help.
Sorry - I said that I was angry. That is the rough gist, but try to keep your cool.
I can ring them if you like. I have the telephone manner of an exocet missile so I'm told.
I've been away a day and this thread is more entertaining than the TV, more thrilling than sky diving and better for your health and spirits than a stiff Cognac.
Cheers to the lot of you - I'd say Bl**dy Marvellous - but it'd only get bleeped.
Applause all round, I hope Mr Mears likes a joke. This is hilarious and inspiring.

They will set teh ball rolling to claim money back through Visa Chargeback. The address for Loyds Visa debit cards is Card Services, 9th Floor, Essex House, Southchurch Avenue, Southend on Sea, SS1 2LB.
Hope this helps someone!
/quote]I have 'phoned Sainsbury's Credit Card this morning and they have said I need to firstly write to Lapland New Forest and ask for my money back. Address is: Unit 1, Wild Park House, Home Farm Road, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 9HD.
If attempt to obtain refund is unsuccessful (!), then forward all correspondance to their Disputes Team at the address on credit card statement and they will look at it.
No promises though......
First of all megspinkgiraffe, I'd contact your bank to see if they will help and stress that its a lot of money over Christmas etc, second write to Lapland New Forest to request a refund of your money, give them 7 days from receipt of your letter to respond to you and tell them if they don't refund you immediately that you will be passing your complaint to the bank/credit card company. Post back here and we'll see if we can help further.
Gomerpyle, you may find it "This is hilarious and inspiring" but it certainly isn't hilarious to the people who are out a lot of money.0 -
Much as I like your Nativity motor racing scene it looks like something from an old race track (CF Ringwood) and is this an indication that the perpetrators are somewhere between the New Forest and the West Midlands and going to set up shop at Silverstone? Has anyone told Bernie Ecclestone? Will Jeremy Clarkson be there? These and many more questions to come.santaclaus wrote: »Here's an exclusive image of the Formula 1 Race Track. Thanks so much for the advice. I was worried if I didnt do something straight away that I wouldnt be able to try for a refund. I think its fantastic what people are doing on here to help those of us who under normal circumstances wouldnt know what to do next. I do find it rather upsetting to read of people making fun of it though when so many families may have lost hard earned cash.0
