Will Orange contract Sim work in an Orange Pay as you go phone

Will it work or do I need to get it "unlocked"? Its a motorola V3 razr which I want to buy for my daughter for xmas . It is on pay as you go from Orange but she has a monthly contract with them and wants to know if she can put her sim into it?

Should work without any problems. Its a network lock, not a lock to say whether the phone is a contract phone or a PAYG phone.

I did this last year and the new phone worked ok with the old contract sim from orange, this year however we are having problems but the problem is the old phone which was on contract wont accept any other sim dispite being unlocked, it wont even take an orange payg sim......
