Ta for all your comments and advice.
Nothing's ever straight forward is it!!
I will have to wait for 'the letter' to arrive from the Pension Serivce dept.
When I receive it I will let others here, in same position as me, know the details.

It's worth remembering that although attendance allowance is simlar to the care componant of DLA you will only be able to claim for a mobility componant if you got it before you turned 65 and your claim is continuous.
This means that it is really important to make sure you get help filling in your forms and appeal if you are turned down as you approach 65 as you will never get that chance back.
Also I think they are changing the rules on backdating pension credit so make sure you apply asap if you think you are eligable.
My advice is to never do these things alone, always get independant proffesional help to fill in these kinds of forms there are plenty of organisations to help eg DIAL, carers resorce, CAB etc. all have independant benefts advice officers or will be able to put you in touch with one.0 -
Thank you so much for the information about keeping DLA payments after the age of 65. I had been told that my payments were going to stop at 65, regardless of the fact that I have a degenerative condition. That news has certainly made me smile............................0
