I am hoping someone can help me sort out this mess we seem to be in with Virgin/AOL
We have been with AOL for about 2 years as we have a Virgin phone line.
Unfortunately due to my husband losing his job we had our telephone cut off. It is now back up and running and all bills up to date.
Whilst we were sorting the bill out we were informed by Virgin that we were now Broadband customers of theirs as AOL had been taken over by TalkTalk and they couldn't now provide us with BB. They advised that they had been supplyig our BB since July 1st 2008 and that we were up to date with that bill too.
We have had no letters informing us that AOL have passed our account to Virgin and Virgin have said it is AOL's responsability to notify us of the change.
Upon looking at our bank statements AOL have also been charging us since 1st July and taking the DD.
Today DH phoned AOL and was told that as we hadn't cancelled BB with them they were entitled to take and keep the money even though we didn't know our accout had changed hands - DH asked them to prove they had notified us of the change and they couldn't. Then their story changed and said that yes they had passed the account to Virgin but legally can only refund 1 month BB and are refusing to refund since July 1st ???
I am so stuck and just don't know what to do
Can anyone offer any advice
