Sky Forever Telephone Line Worry

You don't need to keep the sky box connected the the phone, just disconnect it once the installer is gone.
I was under the impression they CAN check to see if its connected? And the agreement is (if its still like it used to be) that it must be connected for the first 12 months?
Just a thought.......:idea:0 -

There are some people with no land line and still have sky packages (not freesat), e.g. my brother.
It has been discussed here in the past.Move along, nothing to see.0 -
They only check if the box is connected to the phoneline if you have a multiroom subscription; otherwise they don't care. I haven't had mine connected since I got it installed.poppy100

Our engineer told us if they are going to check they#ll do it within first week or so. We disconnected after 2 weeks and never heard a peep!

I did what you're planning Burr. Freesat costs £80 to install, Sky £75. And you get 4 months of packages too. My 4 months is up in November, when I'll cancel. Agree with above comments about the phoneline, their official line is obviously 'keep it connected' but in reality all they need it for is the multiroom, and all you need it for is some of the interactive stuff. You can pay £20 extra to not have the phoneline connected, but I didn't bother. I slipped the installer £20 (I didn't have a £10, and he didn't bite for free, even after a nice cuppa!) and he put in the 4 port LNB and ran 4 wires into the house, 2 of them into the living room, ready for a Freesat HD recorder.
As for the actual programmes, really don't watch them much, most good stuff is on Freeview anyway!0
