Sky Forever Telephone Line Worry

Hi,

I am strongly considering getting Sky Forever (£75 one off cost from the Dixons website) enabling Sky for 4 months with 4 mixes and all the free channels.

I am concerned though that the installation of the Sky Box to my phone line will adversely affect my AOL wireless broadband? Am I right to be concerned? The other problem I have is that my TV is in the bottom right of my lounge and the telephone in the top left (a rectangular room). Will I have wires everywhere? And finally does anyone already have Sky Forever and are happy with it?

Thankyou,

Gavin

If you get sky I would HIGHLY recommend scrapping AOL and using skys 16meg service

is the sky offer a non permanent one, when does your aol contract end as you need to leave aol before you join sky but you could ask sky if they wouldnt install the BB yet as you still have x amount of months left on your current contract(they might say all 3 need to be installed at same time). i dont know about the phone line, they might run a wire on the outside of the house from your current phone point to where the tv is. There might be someone who may come along later and say if im right or wrong.

I have sky and aol running through the same phone line and everythings great, never have any connection problems whatsoever
  • :j Thanks DCFC79, the Sky Deal is a temporary one. I want it for the 4 month deal with all the channels then I will cancel before the monthly cost starts at the end of the 4th month and keep all of the free to air channels, box and dish. I think this one off Sky deal is a very good one. My AOL broadband deal only began a few months ago so I can't get out of that easily and to be honest I am really happy with AOL.

I want to cancel aol. I've been with them for years but the service has been awful in recent months. A while ago I telephoned to cancel, but agreed to continue with them at a reduced rate. This 'new' contract was for 18 months (I think!) but I can't find out when it was taken out. Can anybody help as to where I should look to find out when this contract expires? Thanks in anticipation.

Thanks for that. I think I will try it - at least it is only £75. It sounds as though the Sky being connected to the phone line should not affect my AOL broadband. As for my wires problem, that is still a worry as my TV socket is at the opposite end of the room to my phone line. Hopefully the wires won't be too much of a pain.

You don't need to keep the sky box connected the the phone, just disconnect it once the installer is gone.

Thanks for that Poppy10, I may well disconnect as soon as the installer is gone!
