More 3 billing problems- loyalty discount not applied?? "smoke and mirrors"

Hi
Just got an "outstanding bill" for the account that was closed at the end of the contract term and changed to P+G.

Sigh! It is almost like they are deliberately out to confuse TBH.

Did not receive bills for august or sept in retrospect just the "outstanding charge" letter today for £31.89.

Normal bills are £22 approx/month and include a loyalty discount.

I have persuaded her to send, by email a repeat bill (and wave the £5:eek: charge for this) because, of course, after the account closes you don't have access to any ofthe "my 3" information:huh: .

It seems that it includes all the usual bill stuff for more than a month (why?? billing date was 19th month, account closed 17/9 so why I wasn't billed monthly in a straight forward way I don't know!) but no loyalty discount.

Can they/ do they stop your loyalty discount during the notice 30 days or something?

It is all very "smoke and mirrors" to me (something my dad says referring to deliberately hiding something like victorian magicians)

  • Please advise this is getting silly and thy are threatening a default on my credit file:mad:

DH says just pay it.....I disagree!

Called them approx a week ago. Took a loong time to get the chap to understand, but agreed that the problem was that the loyalty discount (£8) hadn't been applied, and he would "re calculate" and send the bill out again.

Came back from holiday to fine another reminder for the full amount and threat to default me......

Will ring (and record, if I can work out how) later today but where do I proceed if they don't play ball- I couldn't even get the guy to commit to saying how much he thought the bill should be just that he would "re calculate" which he obviously didn't bother with.

This is the last bill of a 12 month "retentions" contract, after which the contract term ended and I ended the contract (having given notice 30 days before obviously) . THere isn't any reason why the should refuse my loyalty discount under these circumstances is there- after all I was still within the contract term.

I am minded to write, clearly explaining why I think the bill should be £8 less and pay it, by cheque, at that amount with a note "in full and final settlement" - I hope that is the correct wording and proceedure, but I don't want it coming back to bite me later...

ETA the bill is correct, I don't dispute the charges, just that the loyalty dfiscount isn't there.

From what you have reported, the bill covers less than 2 full months, so why do you feel entitled to deduct a full month's loyalty discount?

You decide how much your time is worth - if you think it worth it, then dispute the bill in writing, (do you have ts + cs to show the discount is paid in full (or pro rata )for part months).

But bear in mind that should they put a default on your credit files, you will have a disproportionate amount of untangling to do over what seems to be less than the £8 discount you may or may not be entitled to.

Quentin that is 1 months bill with the loyalty discount at £8/month. My total spend was only £1 or so over my total inclusive minutes (as I was abroad in august) plus that VAT on that.

    OK, I misunderstood your post.

But there are still similar questions - do you have the ts + cs for the loyalty discount? Maybe by giving them notice they consider you disloyal??

Anyway, the problem remains - is the possible hassle over them putting a black mark on your record worth the £8? Your call on that one.

If you do have anything in writing on this discount, then you do, of course have a much better case!
  • Updated!

Called them, and after the usual long convoluted conversation being passed to different folk (complicated by the fact that I have the number that was attatched to the old account now ported to the new account and it went via a week on 3 P+G - all that really confused things- "just take the account number please" took ages to sink in!) it seems sorted!

I think maybe I tried an upbeat "spin" as in "I am really keen to settle this bill right now, if you could just sort it out to the correct amount" and it seemed to work- she deducted £7 and a few pence (for 29 days instead of a "full month":rotfl: ) and I payed it.

She did say the account balance was now zero too:T

Now do you think I need to ring again to check?? Feel I should but the trauima of trying to get them to look at the right stuff, when the account may no lomger even show on their "system" seems just toooo much
