unlocked phone but sim restricted?

model is nokia5210e was locked to orange on a contract. contract ended and i packed number across to O2 phone displays states sim restriction off but will not accept even an orange payg sim, phone is not stolen it was my old one i was going to give to grand son.any ideas?

what is the exact error msg when you put the sim in?
how did you unlock it? this model needs 2 codes although it should still work on orange

two codes were supplied by nokia unlocking forum nd phone said sim restriction off but phone displays a message now to say simcard registration failed?
stupid thing is T mobile sim works ok in it but not the payg orange sim!!!!!!!!!!
Can only think that because it was a contract phone orange have blocked it for some reason..... smacked hand for leaving contract maybe....
