Credit crunch hits Britain's high streets as major shop chains struggle for business

Well I can either sit in front of the internet discussing what may or may not happen to house prices in a country I used to live in or I can go to the beach where there will be a load of beautiful women wearing very few clothes.
It's a toughie.
I suspected as much. All this intellectualising was just a ruse
You men you are all the same :rotfl::beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Is that not a little risky, given the sensitive nature of your work?
BTW Very lovely you both look too
I suppose you might be right. Now changed

Noooooooooooooooooo !
This is so wrong..........I have an idea in my head of what you all look like and you are all ruining it. I'll have to stick my fingers in my ears and not listen !
!
You sound like my mirror, I have an idea of what I look like and the mirror never agrees either :rotfl:
(Having met a few people in reality who I 'met' online, sometimes the reality is very surprising)0 -
If I look in my mirror I see my mother looking back.0

All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. I'd be perfectly happy to be like my mother she's much more pragmatic and content than I am. On the other hand if my husband became more like his mother I'd be out the door so fast.;)0 -
Hi all...I just picked up the best wishes...theanks......I was having a late night therapy session with the post.
The emoticons on the extra board aren't working, I need them tonight as my brain is too tired to write how I feel...
So simply put....
We did it. Just. An :A moment arrived yesterday delaying our delivery slot to Tuesday (not Monday) and thank goodness, as there are still 250 units to finish BUT they will be done by Mon pm so OH will collect then drive to Hemel for our delivery slot on Tues and...Dah Dah. Done.
I will pick up on this another time if there is a ''We don't make anything in UK ant more'' post...because we do.
And we do it well too...the people I worked with are from a past era from the basic ops staff to the lady in her late 60's who knows EVERYTHING about everything to do with making.....and co-ordinated my production run of 2300 units.
It wouldn't have happened had we not gone up there and joined in the production line....there was just too much to do in the time frame.
The factory has never had the client/designer sit behind a machine on the line either. The client/designer doesn't really want to do it again....but 'she' (me) found it a fascinating, learning experience....in fact all designer/makers should do it once.
So much gossip about the industry too.
But there is a big gap here.....his 'phone didn't stop with requests for production that he is turning down (as the factory has been downsized so much during the past decade). He even turned down John Lewis recently......the point being that even they need quick, local production now.
Somethings going on my sector and I can feel it. The ones who have survived are superb at the level they work at (whether that is affordable or more pricey).........and the China effect that decimated them all is changing too. Dollar, higher labour costs etc.
They now mostly refuse to work for the big guys because of incidents like this http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1078976/Save-small-businesses-The-things-MUST-stop-firms-going-bust.html SCROLL down to ''The boss who had to make 39 workers redundant. Very common tale.
I part made 200 dresses in 1 and half days....I will post them up if the whole thing finally concludes to spec! Connecting to where your purchases come from...hot new trend.
Sorry, I can't remember anything else in the thread now........when is Gens drink?
