Congratulations and celebrations la la la la la la la la la la la la

Ok ok I'm very very happy for CMD but you singing Cliff Richard is just not acceptable behaviour on the Paper Hat thread. I'll get CAFC to get her whip out if you do it again :rotfl::p

    Thanks CAFC :j

The only thing that improves Cliff is being actually deaf. I was traumatised as a child as my mum loves him. She did from day one. It lead to our standing joke which was when she first went to see him many moons ago my Granddad teased her he was going to be a "flash in the pan" if only he had been right :rotfl:

Hi all and thanks for the good wishes.

Just back from the scan and am so disappointed with the whole thing. We went in and sonographer did an abdominal and internal scan but the baby wouldn't budge for him to take measurements so we were sent away for me to eat chocolate and sweet things.

We were called back in an hour and a half later and he muttered 'This is worse than before' but it musn't have been as he took measurements. He did what he had to do and didn't point out anything to us. He had said earlier that the heartbeat was 'fine'. He told us that the system was down today (you usually get the results immediately) & we would get a phone call tomorrow (if the risks are high) and a letter if they were low.

I left feeling so deflated and he gave us a photo that you can't see a thing. Luckily we had a scan last week and the sonographer told us everything was as it should be or we would have been totally freaked out. Will post last weeks photo tomorrow.

Sorry for the rant and I know it was very off-topic but he made me feel rubbish. I have decided I am getting a private scan. I know it isn't very MSE but I would like someone to spend a bit of time with OH and I showing us the baby and not being silent and frightening us.

    Hope veryone is okay :)

How sad it didn't turn out to be the wonderful experience it should have been

You will get another scan bit further along where you can actually see much more but can understand wondering about a private scan - just be warned they can be very un-MSE in cost

    Thanks ShelleyC,

I am just glad that last weeks scan was good and we had a nice sonographer. I think private scans are about £100 but it will be worth it to have nice pics and to be able to see the baby again :)

Just caught up on the thread - congratulations to clearmydebts, what wonderful news! I had a 12 week and a 20 week scan when I was pregnant with DS - the 12 week is mainly to date and assess downs syndrome risk, and the 20 week is more detailed as the baby is more fully formed. I think I too would have a private scan if I got pregnant again, they do some wonderful 4D ones these days which sound superb (very un-mse but oh well) not sure at what stage you have those done though.

Yah boo sucks to the sonographer though. They dont realise that your heart is in your mouth the whole time they are looking at you - you can interpret the slightest sigh that there is a major problem, whereas they are probably thinking they forgot to take the chicken out for tea.

Will look for the scan tomorrow - glad everything is okay.

  • They might tempt you to have a swanky 3D scan, now that probably would be un-MSE! :D

CMD hun, do whatever you feel, it is a shame that it was a bit pants yesterday, mind you I guess if bean is just contrary and elusive then it might not yeild better piccies
