Hi CAFCgirl - we all have days like that - allow yourself the odd treat say £10 or £20 and then get back on the wagon!

  • Hi all

Stay strong all those battling the things that chip away at willpower

I have also screwed up a bit this weekend and treated myself to bits and bobs. I have GOT to get myself back under control if I want to be debt free by April 2010 or at least if I want to clear my credit card before the interest piles on. There are just too many exciting things out there to do - grrr to life getting in the way of debt freeness. i think it is the weather, the odd bits of sun we are getting are making my brain go 'oooh, new weather, new season, lets spend on celebrating that'

According to my SOA I should have approx £1700 for paying towards my debts each month, the current reality of what I am paying is closer to £1000 - grrrrrrr at me.
£34,547 (Dec 07); Current debt: £zilch (Debt free December 2010)

Hi PAID - well done on the £1000 - look at what else you can do to help you get closer to the £1700. We in theory could just about manage on OH plus JSA plus child benefit - at the moment tho we are still coasting due to my bonus and spending more than we should. That is fine as long as I get my next job soon - not okay if I don't (as it will run out).

I think you do have to look at the progress you have made. Traditionally we are always overdrawn on acct 2 - this month we will have £600 to put into acct 1 (fixed bills acct). I'm hoping to get it nearer to £1000 shortly but on paper it should be more like £1400!! We have had justifiable costs tho like car insurance which we pay annually that have set us back but if I am unemployed long term that £1400 isn't optional!!! If I get a job soon - hopefully we will be able to up the amount we are paying off a month to above the £1k we were paying before my job ended...

Good luck - it sounds like we are facing similar challenges....

    Hello all!

I had a lovely Easter hols. Weather was just gorgeous and spent a lot of time with my bf and couple of days on the beach playing. :)

Well, wages have come and almost gone. Holiday's booked, going on 13th of May. :) Really looking forward to that though the money could've been spent much more wisely elsewhere...

£100 to student loan pot. Will only pay minimum on CC this month. :( But it'll go in August so no fluster.

    Hope all are well!

Thrilled to bits as have £800 left over in Acct 2 at the end of the month - I thought £600 was pushing it for this month. I'm trying to get it to £1000 at least by the end of May....

I've not included it in the paperhat challenge but this does mean that we have way more than cleared the overdraft. :j When I joined we were regularly overdrawn by £2.2K per month!!!

A quick update on interview progress of the 3 interviews I had last week - I got to the next stage on 1 of them - my favourite so that is really good news. :j The bad news is that to get to final interview I have to do really well on on-line maths and english tests that are timed - I am "bricking it" especially on the maths! I also have another interview for a diff job next Tuesday so at least I am still getting interviews!

    Hope everyone else is ok?
