HELP! what does 'local mode' on mobile mean?

My phone has suddenly died and now shows 'local mode' on the screen. it won't switch on/off! its a nokia 6230i...
what does this mean?? any advise people???

I *think* that it's a mode for use with a serial cable. I'm not sure about this, I'm trying to find something on it.

Well if you havent done anything there must be something causing the connections to complete. Is there anything stuck on them?

OK,

Well I've had a look. Even the main forums don't have much on it. Most about it seems to be when entering developer modes on the phone. Not sure exactly what's happened! There was a post from someone in the USA who had the same issue, the only response was to contact the provider. Aparently they advised a software issue on the phone.

Sorry but I think this ones a little out of my league. I'd advise you restart the phone by removing the battery (safety first though!) and try restarting; else it needs to be a call to the provider.

could be a s/w crash (needs reflash) faulty component or maybe liquid damaged in the past?
how old is the phone? maybe still under warrenty
