Go to the teguise market on the sunday for a good browse and barter but seeing as your hiring a car i would reccomend you go early and get there before the million of buses of tourists.
Thr rancho texas park looks a good'un birds of pray shows, crocodile shows and parrot shows plus lots more http://www.ranchotexaslanzarote.com , you get fed and free drink but we had our 10month old with us so not practical.
Go to puerto del carmen to the submarine (plenty of flyers for it) wish i went on that now.
Plenty of bars etc in all scattered around just have a good nosey.
Loved the HIGHLANDER for a wee bevy and a karioke which wee billy starts at 10pm to 12pm which is a good laugh.
You have to go to the timanfaya national park truely breathtaking, and take lots of photos.
Hope you enjoy your holiday :xmassign:
Just got back last night and we had a great time. We had 5 days of good weather, 1 dull day, and 1 day of rain.
We stayed at Los Zocos, which we enjoyed when we went 8 years ago, and enjoyed again. It had had some rather negatibe reviews, but as suggested, I sent an email before we went - requesting block 3. This request was granted and we had no problems at all. The only thing was that the maid was a bit keen and insisted on putting anything away anything which we left out. So each day it was treasure hunt to find where she had put everything. We booked all-inclusive, and even as a picky eater, I was spoiled for choice in the restaurante each day. The option of eating at "El Boulevard" was rather disapointing. This should have been a large food hall with a great choice, but only two of the outlets were open. The bar was good, but got very smoky. So we went next door to the Lanzarote Gardens (where we stayed two years ago) and had a drink in a more health atmosphere.
Timanfaya was something which we had always intended to do, but all the organised coach trips seem to include lots of other things and take all day. However with the car, we got around to doing it this time. It was definitely worth seeing. There were some divertions for road works on the way, so we did yet a bit lost, but we got to see a bit more of the island that way.
We decided to skip the submarine as two of us were not in the best of health, but will probably give it a go if/when we next go.
Other thing we did was the birdpark/zoo in the north of the island. We did it on our last full day and due to bad weather in the morning, did not set off until after lunch. The signposting was less than perfect, and we did not arrive until 4:35 - only to find that it closed at 5:00. As it was the last day, and we had spent a hour getting there, we decided to go for it. So the whole place in half an hour - including a 10 minute stop at the playground. (That was the deal agreed with my 5 year old). I would recomend that anyone else going there should allow a bit longer, about two to two and a half hours should be about right.
Just to cap off the holday, the lugage belts at the airport broke. We deliberately timed it to get to the airport before the coaches to avoid standing in a queue for hours, but ended up being third in line for an hour and ten minutes while we waited for them to fix the belts.
Still, we had a good time and wish that we were still there now.[size=-2] If this post was unhelpful, please tell me.
