Any business that uses barclays to do there card transaction (about 80% off businesses) they all do not accept visa electron over phone/internet, they can only be used if your at the terminal.Kind Regards

It's worth changing to a solo if you can...
It's much more widely accepted.0 -

I think you will find that is incorrect and Barclays Merchant Services DO in fact accept Electron payments for online/telephone transactions, as you will see on this website.
All the major banks including Barclays, Lloyds, Natwest, Midland and RBOS, have the ability to accept Electron payments if the correct card identifying and processing software is installed and updated, which is down to the individual retailer/company.
I recently noticed Argos have made the necessary upgrades to accept Electron now, but as far as I know Tesco have failed to, because basically they don't give a stuff about their customers
I had this problem 18mths ago when the Halifax switched from Solo to Electron and had to change banks and apply for a credit card to use online to get around this problem, so I'm amazed there are still some retailers not accepting it!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

It used to be the most popular basic card but Electron appears to be taking over and, as far as I know, you can only get a Solo card from Natwest and HSBC now."An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

i also have a visa electron.
Although more places are starting to accept it its really annoying when you get right to a checkout online and they say they cant accept it.
I can only pay via paypal or visa electron. My bank offers no alternative card type either
this site is very useful
