Can anyone tell me what the payment date for the Egg card is? we have just done a BT onto this card a couple of days ago, I have checked the balance online but it doesn't yet state when the payment date will be, I have checked my bank account where the DD is set up and it isn't set up yet
I just want to know if it will likely be before 20th November, as if not, I can allocate the payment to another debt
thanks

My egg statement date is the 13th of the month , and the direct debit to pay the full amount is the 1st of the following month
...but I doubt it's the same for everyone ?
I'd have thought it would depend when they open your account - maybe best to e-mail them through the website to get confirmation0 -
Mine's different - statement on the 21st and direct debit taken on the 10th of the following month.
But if money is that tight, I'd keep enough in your account to cover the payment until it has been taken - then if you don't need to pay anything this month, you can always use that money next month on your other debt.
I find Egg's direct debits a bit strange - if I make a payment myself, no matter when I make it or how much it is, they debit the minimum payment amount anyway. I thought they weren't supposed to take the minimum payment if you had already paid more than that in good time - it used to work, but recently it doesn't seem to.0 -
My statement date is the 5th of the month and the money is taken on the following 24th. I tried to change these dates and was told by Egg that there has to be 19 days (I think) between the statement date and the payment date. I wanted the money to be taken out on the 24th, hence why my statement date is the 5th.
Hope that makes sense!0 -
Statement 18th IIRC, payment following 6th.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
Wait for a statement to be produced (you'll know this has happened once the 'recent transactions' disappear and also Egg emails you) and then take the payment date off that?
You won't always know when a direct debit is set up on a current account until after the first amount is actually taken (this varies from current account to current account -some can show this) but in any case Egg is responsible for the direct debit - they set it up automatically as part of the credit agreement - so you need to do nothing except keep checking your Egg statements
Finally, why not just give them a ring or secure message them - they are bound to know the answer sooner than you can 'find out'.....under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
I have a new Egg card too, and to find out the statement date I simply asked them using their online messaging facility. I got the reply that my statement date is the 13th and direct debits are taken 19 days afterwards, which seems pretty consistent with everyone else's replies here.0

The DDs work as follows:
Egg Card (Visa) - 14 days after the statement date.
Egg Money (Mastercard) - 19 days after the statement date.
The day the statement is produced will vary from customer to customer.
As you haven't had a statement produced yet the easiest thing to do is as Milarky suggested, call them. They're open 24 hours so doesn't matter when.
They can change your payment date to something more suitable if you want them to, they do this by changing the statement date. If you want to pick your own payment date then call them now so they can make the change straight away.
tyllwyd - the way in which extra payments affects DDs varies from company to company.
Egg's policy is that the DD will always be called for unless the full statement balance is cleared at least 5 working days in advance of the payment date.
So whether the DD is set to the minimum or a fixed amount it'll always be called for unless the full balance is cleared early.
The only other occasion in which DDs are affected is if it's set to clear the full balance every month. In that case extra payments will reduce the DD amount (as long as they're credited 5 working days in advance like before).0 -

Oh, that explains it - I'd probably been clearing the full balance before and I'm not now. Thanks for explaining that!0
