How to Make Trike for Disability?

How about this?
www.americanchariot.com
- No seat? A mere detail for anyone handy...
They even do a military version! Though strangely enough they seem to see no application whatever for the disabled.0 -
You could also try Handcycling UK, www.handcyclinguk.org.uk for advice, BUT be careful of rules & regs covering mobility vehicles, speed limits, etc as set by the Dept for Transport, and whether this is intended to be a pavement or road vehicle. Jacqui0

Thanks for all your suggestions. I will look into them all.
mattp - I did have one like this but it was too big to go through gates and also too heavy and bulky.
pixwix - I love the chariot. I wonder if I could put a chair on it!
Unfortunately I cannot do the work myself and hubby is useless!! Oops shouldn't say that! It would have to be really simple to do.0 -
If anyone has a copy of the Sept/Oct Able magazine, there is an ad under second hand goods, for a mountain bike converted to a tricycle. I've seen the photos and can pm if anybody would like to see them.
This is a professional engineer's conversion. No use if you're looking for an electric trike, though, but certainly worth a look if you're in the Essex area, and at £300, it's not as ludicrously priced as some of the ones I've seen.
I have emailed the seller and invited him to come onto this forum and maybe share some advice.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0 -
There's plenty of handcycle designs on the market, too many to mention in fact. Everything from ones that will fit to a standard wheelchair in seconds, to all out purpose built race machines. Here's a couple of links to give you an idea: Bromakin, DaVinci The latter do the very popular PDQ power trike.0

Furrytractor, thanks for those links. I've had a quick look, but can't see the prices. Might make further enquiries tomorrow.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

BEWARE of the PDQ power trike xtra it isn't reliable. See here http://victims-of-pdq.com/ I hope this helps as a warning.0
