New kitchen costs

  • https://www.diapol.co.uk - have been the most reasonably priced that I can find on the net, I'm not sure on the choice of Quartz though, they don't appear to have the black sparkly one. I've requested for the rep to come round with some samples before coming round to measure up & template so we don't have to commit or make a decision on the spot...
  • Thanks Martial Man, It's an absolute minefield out there with so many companies offering different quartz worktops. I came across a good article on http://www.kitchensfitted.co.uk/KitchenArticles/Corian-Quartz-Stainless%20Steel-Granite.php that says they're all made on the same machine. I'm interested to hear from anyone who has had quartz fitted who may at one time have had a granite top. Is quartz any better?

    Phirefly,
    Your kitchen looks great.

Blimey! I WISH! its going to take blood sweat and tears and a few major invoices paid to Phirefly Inc before we have a kitchen like that! Our kitchen is an eyesore as demonstrated below (although it looks much worse here as it was taken while we were decorating the sitting room so theres lots of uncharacteristic clutter)...

That Avant ranges (which also come in solid gloss colours as well as the zebrano effect) are sold through quite a few suppliers, including magnet and MFI I think... the one I found it through was www.diy-kitchens.com. Also, www.pws.co.uk are a distributor and theres lots of info on their site.

The kitchen looking like that, would win one of those Turner Prze thingies, for a stunning work of art!!

Indeed. Its not a kitchen its an installation.
  • Phirefly,
Sorry, my mistake, thought the designer stainless steel brekky bar kitchen was yours. Whoevers it was is fortunate.
Still undecided about the worktops and the best cost for quartz I've had yet by far is from T Foley Interiors but did manage to get my Echo D1 undermount sink and Nordic tap at the best price I've come across on the www.astracast-sinks-taps.co.uk site that they also operate and it arrived today as promised. No good without a top though and the boss is getting a little tired of my researching the costs.
Has anyone heard of thin quartz surfaces and how good are they and what are the cost savings from a regular quartz surface?

I'd be interested to hear any response to that too...

Yeah B&Q do it, it's called Speedstone. When I saw it I came home and tried to find a supplier on the net as B&Q will only fit it if they are supplying and fitting the kitchen. I don't know the cost of it and can't find anyone else doing it...
  • I checked out Speedstone and like you say you can only buy it if you buy a kitchen with B&q.
I posted abou this on Tim Foley's forum http://www.kitchensfitted.co.uk/KitchenForum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=663and he's come back with an interesting answer.
I'll let you know when I receive the quote.
Another thing that I'm searching for at the moment is a microwave to fit in a wall cabinet anyone got any good advice on what's available at a decent price?

  • Good site & forum. I have requested a quote myself although they're in Manchester and I'm in Kent...
