Plusnet issue again!

Options
First it was an increase in their cessation fee and now they debit your card without your permission. I was on the basic plan and the upgraded to a higher package free of charge.
Without notifying me they debited my debit card without my permission or authorisation for the difference between the old package and the new package. Although the amount was relatively small it is the principle especially as I have a DD set up with them and during the transaction they could have notified me of the additonal charge and even added it onto my DD, but nolt to say anything and go ahead and debit the card really annoys me. Luckily there were sufficient funds in it otherwise I may have incurred a charge.
I am sure it is a criminal offence to debit someone's card without their explicit permission but being a law lame brain I am not sure how I can give them hassles big time!

  • What have they been like to deal with overall? I heard they are going downhill.

I think I have to agree. To give them theri due they have offered me a month's free subscription but it wil stil leave me out of pocket on cessation of my broadband service as I will not be transferring to another as I have mobile broadband. They have agree to refund the amount deducted from my card however it was not the amount deducted, it was the way it was done without my knowledge. IMHO they were committing fraud but then I am no lawyer!
  • Hi there,

I'm sorry about this, you should certainly have been warned about the pro rata charge. It's taken from the card because it's a one off payment rather than subscription, unfortunately that's the way our billing system works.

Any chance you could PM me a ticket number or username so I can have a look and if necessary a word with the agents concerned?

Once again I'm sorry about the hassle.

    Regards,

    Matt
